"Im glad to hear it." He grinned, raising an eyebrow at her question. Staying out of trouble? Of course he was. Crossing his heart, he said solemnly, "As always, Mum. You know i dont go looking for trouble." Quite the opposite in fact.

Peem started laughing and she shot him a glare. "Notta word, bairn!" He shut up and went back to unloading groceries. "

Blaize chuckled, raising his hands. "Ai, mum, but im the good one!" His eyes were sparkling, "Peem's corrupting me, i fear." He was joking with her, in fact, compared to other kids their age, they were angels. "All joking aside, i will be in trouble if i dont get home." He looked sad, not really wanting to leave. "But i promise to come back more. Is that acceptable, mum?" He finished up his cocoa and held the mug in his hands.

Blaize sighed remorsefully, hugging her back."Well, that makes me want to stay, Mum, but i cant." He gave a wave to Peem, calling out 'see you's' to him and Davey. "Ill be back, dont worry about that." And he was gone.

Mrs. Hendry shook her head. "Poor boy..I'll have to make him another cake." Peem laughed and hugged his mom. "...he'll love that." They both got to making dinner, with Davey working on card tricks in his room.

(Next Morning)
Blaize was in a state of suspended shock. He had run all the way from Queens, but he was hardly winded- too much was running through his head. Clutched in his hand was a yellowed envelope, with so many red marks on the front, it looked as if it had been around the world and back. Running up the steps, he skidded to a stop in front of Peem's apartment and took a second to calm down before he knocked softly. It wasn't early, but it wasn't late either. He didn't want to wake up anyone in case they were sleeping in.

Peem had been up reading and sipping some tea when he heard the knock. His mother was off at work and Davey had run off with a next door neighboor kid for a while. Opening the door, he stared wide eyed at Blaize. "...whats wrong?"

"I know why my mother left Britain!" He was bouncing on the heels of his feet, shocked and yet, happy at the same time. He waved the letter in his hand, "I have a letter from my father, and you're not going to believe what the heck he has to say."

Peem's eyebrows raised, letting Blaize in the apartment. "...well I can't believe it till I hear it, bairn so spill!" He went and made Blaize a cup of tea, handing it to the tall blonde.

"Thanks." He said as he sipped at it, sitting down on the couch. He opened the envelope, which had Elizabeth Ackman written on it, and just under that, it had Michael Ackman. "This is a letter, letting my mother know that my father....died, last month, in the fighting in Ireland." He looked down at it, biting his lip. "I always assumed my last name came from my dad... but that's not true."
He creased the paper, and handed it to Peem. At the crease, was one name. Brian O'Callaghan.

Peem's mouth dropped open a bit, but closed it quickly. He spoke softly. "Ach..Guess you an Flanna actually dunna have a reason ta fight." He looked up at Blaize. "Yah...half Irish. Congrats." He hugged his friend. "And I'm sorry ya dad is dead."

"Yeah, I guess not." He hugged him back, "And thanks. It puts stuff into perspective, I guess." He motioned toward the actual letter. "He wrote to my mom...but it never got here. Saying he was sorry to get her involved in the fight. I think thats why my mom was always so mean whenever i brought up the Irish...Not because she hated them...but because she kind of blamed my father for the way she was condemned." He sighed and shook his head, "And that also explains why we were always moving."

Peem nodded. "Yeah it does.." He smiled softly. "I dunno..I think this is a good thing, Blaize. A real good thing. No one is going to bug you now."

"It is." He agreed with a small smile, "And i know who my father is. Even if i never got to meet him....At least i know he didn't walk out on my mother." He looked down at his father's handwriting and smiled a little, "He named me, too, and i never knew that. He wanted to name me Irish, but my mother wouldn't let him- said that would be a dead give away. So he decided on Michael."
