Sneaks sat on the couch in the common room, shuffling his cards absentmindedly. He hadn't been doing much as of late...gambling...the normal stuff. He was surprised nothing too big hadn't occured.
But Lady Luck told him something might happen today.

Firecracker opened the door slowly, looking tired. New smudges were plastered on her loud orange cap, and her right fist seemed slightly more dirty then the other one. With a sigh, she made her way over to one of the old armchairs, flopping herself down and stifling a groan as she did so. How could she be so exhausted? She wondered this as she cradled her head in her hands, not even glancing Sneaks' way.

Sneaks took one look at Firecracker and put his cards away, getting up to stand in front of her. "...So who did you just fight, Miss Firecracker?" He looked at her fist and her hat. "..or who did you at least argue with?" He crossed his arms in front of him, his hazel eyes piercing. He wouldn't be blown off.

Firecracker glared at Sneaks, not in the best mood. With a temper as nasty as her nickname when angry, she was warning him to not press any farther. She was too tired to fight, but had enough will power yet to stay true to Ace's words of not telling...for the time being.
"Toby da clown at Irvin' Hall wouldn't give me any candy, so I clobbered him." she muttered sarcastically.

Sneaks snorted and shook his head. "Scarasm and lying isn't very becoming of you, Fire." He started shuffling his cards. "Its not like I'm going to smack ya for whatever ya did..." He shrugged. "...but I don't take kindly to being lied to from people I am supposed ta consider friends."

"I'se not worried about me health, someone else's, actually," Firecracker muttered softly to herself. "Which is why I ain't goin' ta tell ya anytin', if I'se don't make an excuses, I'se don't make any lies."
She was stubborn, she had always been. But exhaustion was taking over. If he didn't leave her alone soon, she might just tell him, just to get him off her case. Sighing, she closed her eyes, wanting nothing more than to fall asleep.

Sneaks raised an eyebrow. "Who is in so much trouble that you are lying for them?" He stopped shuffling his cards again. "...Come on Fire. I doubt you should keep your mouth shut. You know I ain't going to harm anyone.."

Firecracker snorted, cocking an eyebrow at his "you know I ain't going to harm anyone." Oh, how much she wanted to kill Ace for making her deal with Sneaks' pestering. Biting her lip, she shrugged her shoulders. What the heck. However, she hesitated again. This was Sneaks. She'd heard of his previous battles with the Bronx Leader.
"Alright, but you'se gotta promise not ta tell anybody, or hurt 'im," she stated seriously. "If you'se do, I swear you'll regret it...as soon as you can t'ink clearly again."

Sneaks laughed. "...I swear I swear. No harm shall come to said person!" He put up his hand. "I swear on my word as a gambler. A trueful one."

"Ace." Firecracker finally muttered, almost hoping he wouldn't hear and she wouldn't have to repeat herself. Sighing, she shifted her light green gaze to the worn carpet on the floor, as if it could somehow get her out of the trouble that was sure to come.

Sneaks didn't even blink. Somehow..I knew.
"...what was he doing, Firecracker? Was he wearing anything out of the ordinary?"
My, he seemed to be taking this well.

Firecracker bit her lip, seriously not fond of the idea of telling him even more. Somehow, being exhuasted didn't seem as important. Still staring at the floor, she prayed--something she hadn't done in a while--that this would all turn out alright. Which it probably wouldn't.
"He was on Fifth Avenue.." she murmured, still finding the rug quite interesting. "Dressed like a scabbah."

Sneaks nodded. "Oh. Really." He seemed calm...except he threw his cards to the floor in a fierce motion. "Excuse me, miss." With that he disappeared upstairs.
When he came down, he was dressed in his finest gambling suit, looking slightly 'southern rake' as upposed to 'new england upper class', but no matter. He looked money.
"...Thank you for telling me Fire." He checked for his weapons and straightened his cravat, his eyes turning gold. "...now I'll see you later. I have to go find and Kill Ace." And with that, he was out the door.

"Oh, crap, I'se dead!" Firecracker howled, running after Sneaks. He couldn't kill Ace, he'd promised not to!
'Actually,' came the voice inside her head. 'he promised not to hurt him, not kill him.'
Darn loopholes! Growling angrily, she ran after the other Manhattan newsie, her exhaustion forgotten at the moment. Sneaks wasn't going to kill Ace without a fight...no matter how small and pathetic of one it would be.
