Lukas stiffened up, not having anything smart to respond to that with. He turned his head, uncomfortable with the eye contact. "Well..." he drug the word out waiting for something else to come to mind, truth was he just wanted to harass her. "..if i..well what if you did somethin', huh? An' then I didn't stop yeah, It'd be my ass then." He tried to look menecing but knew his argument was weak.
"You shouldn't be able ta jus' run around 'ere causin' problems on my side of da bridge!"

She held his gaze, watching him squirm as she struggled to hide her smirk. She nodded along mockingly with his reasoning. "You're right Luke," she said, shortening his name, "Me, comin' ova heah, buyin' a pretzel... things could really get outta hand," she said sarcastically.
As quick as she spoke it she regretted it. She didn't mean to be such a smart ass, she was actually enjoying talking to him, if this could be considered a conversation. Her impulsive attitude always seemed to get the better of her.

Lukas clenched his jaw. Why was she in control of this conversation? he thought, irritated by his total lack of wit. He glared at her and flared his nostrils. "Don't sass me in me own territory, goil" his voice was a deep hiss and he raised his shoulders in a pathetic attemp to look tougher. He eyed her intently, not going to let her leave that easy. "Stupid ta come ovah during a war. Easy ta get in a bit a trouble - evah ta get a lousy pretzel"

"I'd back off der. Ya don't wanna do anythin' ya'd reghet, now wouldcha?" Said a voice behind Berg. "Come now we don't want ta do anything dat could...ruin your reputation. Unless of course it’s damaged beyond all repaih," Flick smirked.
Flick didn't like how this guy was treating the girl he was talking to, even if she was from another territory. There was only one reason in his mind to be treating a girl that way and that was if you were defending yourself or someone else.

Sweets could already tell by this point that this Lukas character was fairly harmless, she figured by now if he was gonna beat her he already would have.
Sweets peered behind Lukas with an eyebrow raised. Oh great. She started unconsciously backing up. As far as she could tell, as soon as this new kid found out she was from Manhattan, she was doomed.

Lukas quickly turned to face the voice behind him. He recognized the kid - Bronx newsie so no real threat, at least as far as the war was concerned. Flick towered above him, and Lukas swallowed hard, his adam's apple visably bobbing up then down. He was Bronx though so he wouldnt hurt him...right? He narrowed his eyes not amused by anything this kid had to say. "I aint got nuthin' ta be ashamed of!" Lukas snapped back "and dat means nothin' needs ta be fixed, so shove off!" He snorted and turned his head back towards Sweets ignoring the giant behind him. In a low tone he let out a faint, "jerk..." and mutterd quickly about his reputiation.

Flick wasn't too happy about being called a 'joik' but figured he might have been a little. "I wouldn't be callin' me a joik again dere or I'll knock ya out. I don't care if we are on da same sides. An insults, an insult. And plus ya shouldn't be callin' me a joik when youse bein' an even bigger joik den me. I mean this fine young ladies just heah ta buy a nice hotdog and ya harassing her." Then slipping into a perfect British accent he said, "Is that anyway to talk to a lady of just fine...stature." He smirked cause if Lukas argued with that he would be insulting himself as well as the girl.

She raised an eyebrow at the boy, grinning and blushing slightly. So far so good. Now if she could just slip away before he finds out she's from Manhattan she'd be home free.
"Well, this has been real fun," she said, bumping into people behind her as she backed up. "Thanks for da help pal," she added grinning at the boy, "If only more people heah were such gentlemen." she shot a glance to Lukas, grinning in victory. "Well I best be off, see ya 'round." she spun on her heel and began trying to get through the crowd.

"Well no problem, I'll just keep dis one occupied while ya try and make youh escape, but ya might wanna watch where ya travel next time I won't always be dere," Flick called as he smirked at Lukas. He recognized the boy now and his opinion of him was getting worse and worse with every one of his sentences.

She stopped mid-step, turning around slowly. might wanna watch where ya travel next time
Did he know she was from Manhattan? And he was still helping her?
Her curiosity got the better of her. "Wait a minute heah, whatdya mean watch wheah I go? How do ya know I aint from heah, huh?" she asked, looking at him accusingly and momentarily forgetting her desire to escape.

Flick smiled at her, "From what I know of dis...well to put it lightly unscrutious fella heah," Flick pointed his thumb to Lukas, "he wouldn't be treatin' ya dis way unless ya were from a different territory. The enemy and I haven't seen ya in the Bronx and ya to sweet ta be from da Brooklyn area," He said the last with a laugh.

Lukas had crossed his arms over his chest as the duo continued to take shots at him. Each insult made him beath a little harder and narrow his eyes even more - it was too much for him. He disgregarded everything Flick said, his anger motivation him more than his caution.
"Move ovah Sasquatch !" He snorted at Flick and stomped over to Sweets whom he started to point an angry finger at. "See what I mean, girly, yer gettin' me all in trouble cause ya can't stay where ya belong!" His voice was raising and he started to flail his arms around too elaborated his mood. "Go find yer stupid pretzel in 'hattan!" He stomped and hissed a threat at her motioning back to Flick. "He won't be 'ere next time..." The words tumbled out of his mouth without any thought attached.

Flick grabbed Lukas's arms, he didn't like how close Lukas was getting to hitting the girl. "Don't evah let me see ya hit her or I'll knock ya out cold foh a week." Flick said this with a straight face and stared into Lukas's eyes. He wanted him to get his point.

Lukas squirmed, trying to wrentch his arms out of Flick's grip. He coulnd't look at his face, the eye contact intimidated him like none other. "I wasn't gonna hit her!" he squeeked, his voice cracking midsentence. After a moment he regained some of his nerve, glared at FLick, and spit. "Ya make me sick!" His voice was stronger now, "Ya come chargin' in when it ain't yer business and let her go no questions! She MANHATTAN, Bronx's enemy!" He started to squirm again and when realizing he had little hope of getting away he regretted his outburst. His face dropped, fear replacing anger.

Flick was mad, but said, "Don't try intimidatin' someone wit your arms flyin' every where and dis nevah would have happened. Ya know what ya don't know da foist thing about me, ya just wanna think what ya wanna. And I really don't care, but who cares if she's a 'hattan newsie. We still need each odah afteh dis war. And trust me we will. Don't eveh hit a goil around me or let me heah of it, cause I really don't care what ya do ta me. I'll get enough punches in ta count and maybe I'll win. But ya've been warned." Flick's eyes flashed at the last of it, he thought Lukas no better then the bulls and he didn't know if Lukas could ever change his opinion of him.
