Lukas deflated, cowering a bit under Ace's gaze. He nodded, let out a sigh, and in a meek voice said "Yeah, yeah, Ace..I got it" He looked up at him and slowly curled his mouth into a smirk. "Looks like ya been fightin' yerself....nice nose" He had a full fledged grin now.

He rolled his eyes and poked the other in the chest with his finger. "Yah, out gettin papes for you guys." He pulled his bag over his shoulder and pulled out a small stack, one for Flick, and one for Lukas. "Im gonna go get some more tomorrow."

"Not a coward, ha," Flick had to have the last word on that subject.
"Hey, Ace when ya go tomorrow make sure ya tell me. I'm goin' whetheh ya like it or not. Eitheh ya take me wit ya or I'll go by myself," he wanted to help out the newsies. He knew he sounded bossy but he didn't mean to be overly bossy.

Ace looked over at him and shook his head after a minute, "Not tomorrow." He said, with that small tone that said it was an order. Ace almost never got that tone unless it was something important. "I have a score ta settle, and i want to do it by myself- none of my kids there."
It was a leader thing. He didn't want to seem like he had brought back up. Not for a manhattan newsie anyway. "Please." He added softly.

Flick was about to say something about even if he was his leader he would go. To help him and the newsies but the 'please' stopped him. Flick looked at his face and nodded. He knew that look and would back off, "But ya get hoit I'll double it, ya got dat. Da goils would all be in hysteria and I don't personally wanna deal wit dat, so I would owe ya," Flick smiled at him.

Ace grinned and held out his hand, "I'll try not ta injure myself too badly." He knew that promising no injuring at all was a lie. He was up against a guy with brass knuckles. He wasn't going to come out scratch-free. He knew that as fact.

"Yeah," Flick laughed. "And keep our boys in check. They can't be hittin' goils unless they try swingin' at dem. Dats da only thing I'll eveh tell ya ta do," Flick said this with a straight face and he meant it or there would be hell to pay. He turned and started walking away.

Lukas stared at Flick's back, happy to see him go. "What a jerk..." He said quietly, once the bigger boy was out of ear shot. He looked back at his leader and let his jaw drop. "What?" He glanced around and pulled the papers out of Ace's hand. "Thanks? For the papers...?" It was more of a question than a statement not knowing what Ace was exspecting from him.

Lukas sighed and moved his hair out of his face. "Well..." he paued for a minute then started to explain quickly, "That stupid 'hattan girl was 'ere and made some dumb comments to me so I told 'er she didn't belong 'ere cause the war - it was for her own good ya know? But then that jerk FLick started goin' all crazy tellin' me not ta hit girls - I would never hit 'her. But her thought i was cause he knows everythin'" he rolled his eyes for effect, " so he got in my face and was gonna try ta soak me!" He snorted after his story. For his own conveinence he had ommited certain details.
He put a hand on Ace's shoulder. "I know ya cant be everywhere leadah...don't worry we can take care of ourselves." He gave a cheesy smile

Ace snorted, "Obviously i need to have a talk with my kids again." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "This whole thing is a mess. I dont even know what to do anymore, and this whole thing is tearing Brooklyn apart."
He looked up at the sky, a wistful look in his eyes. "Is it childish to wish we could turn back time?"

Lukas raised an eyebrow, thinking it weird to see Ace like this. He flipped off his bowler with his free hand and shook his head so his hair would reposition before putting it back on. "Who cares 'bout Broo--" He stopped himself before finishing knowing Ace had close ties with the borough and gave an innocent smile.
He didnt quite know how to react to Ace's musing so he shrugged. "Sure, change time but it sounds like it would be everyone against Brooklyn that way....Spot dont seem ta really accept neutrality as a side." It was proabbly the smartest thing he said all day.

He hummed in agreement. "Brooklyn aint all bad." He told him with a raised eyebrow, "Did you forget my goil is from dere?" He gave him a fake glare and laughed, "Red aint bad...And Spot isnt either once you get to know him and stop treating him like an inhuman animal."
He frowned a bit, "Neutrality aint a side, Luke. Really its not. You cant go through life expectin peace, cause dat aint gonna happen."

"Well his name kinda makes 'im sound like an animal.." Lukas laughed breifly at himself before catching Ace's frown. He frowned back and nodded. "Yeah I knows dat...jus' hopeful thinkin'" He thought for a moment then started to glare again "But its a war between Brooklyn an' hattan! Why the hell did we get all caught up in it?!" He started to throw a minor fit and kicked at the dirt. He really had no understanding of the whole fight, "Spike was a Brookie, 'is corpse was in 'hattan. So where da hell is Bronx in all dis?"
