Prince smiled a bit and looked at him. "Flanna?" that being the only other girl pretending to be a boy she could think of. And even she had stopped for the most part. "Yeah, she's a nice goil, but... no. Her reasons are different from mine. Her's was a broad fear... mine is smaller." She was thinking that Flanna was afraid of more than one person, for Prince it was one.
"An'... talkin', though it could be interestin'... I dun think could solve dis puzzle. She sighed and looked away from him, down at the other side of the curb as she ran her finger along the sidewalk.

Jack nodded. "Yeah..Flanna." He listened to her and saw her frustration, confliction. "Yeah..David says talkin' solves a lot...and he's usually right." HE shrugged. "But not always." He patted her shoulder lightly. "Sorry. Is just tryin' ta help."

"Thanks," she said quietly. "I appreciate it," She looked down at the ground infront of her, instead of beside her. She bit her lower lip to keep herself from saying everything right then. Avalanche had told her she should have done this years ago before any war, before the strike! She should have told him, and never did. She wouldn't now either, not if she could help it. "Sounds like David is more brains den mouth da way youse talk about 'im," she said attempting to change the subject. Though, she doubted whether or not he'd let her.

Jack nodded. "Hey..he really is. Is got charisma and street smarts..but he's got sense where Is dont." He lit another cigarette and gave it to her. "...I dunno. I know I's pressin...but yous know about what I used to hide? I created that 'hole damn lie about me's pa livin' in Santa Fe and Is was gonna see him.."
He shrugged. "That lie ate a whole in me a mile long...and since it was ousted...I've never felt betta." He kept his eyes on his feet, feeling a bit silly rehashin' something he would like ta forget.

Prince took the cigarette from him and stared at it for a second. "Ya faddah..." she echoed after he was done. "I... nevah had da pleasure of meetin' da man... but... I'se sure ya run inta mine... more den once," she said staring down at the ground. She quickly put the cigarette in her mouth. She might have just let something a bit imortant... maybe too important slip out. She knew that he would just keep pressing now... but maybe Jack would be right. Maybe she'd feel better... or maybe not.

Jack listened and thought for a moment, his eyes widdening. "....oh." Was all he could manage. Her father couldn't really be who he thought, could it?....but that would explain it all. Every bit of it. "...yeah. If Snyder was my father too, I figure I'd hide from him." He had this strange desire to hug her, but he kept his arms at his sides, watching her.

She wanted so badly to scream at the top of her lungs but all she did was throw the cigarette as far away from her as she could. "Yeah..." she said turning away from him again. This was the closest she'd been to tears in ages, and she hated herself for it. All the people in New York, all the times, and she had to pick NOW to be emotional. Smooth one Prince. She shook her head slowly. "I probably shoulda told youse... a long time ago... since I kinda gotcha in trouble." She said nothing else... it seemed she'd already said far too much.

Jack again moved to comfort her like he would any normal girl--but Prince wasn't any normal girl. She was Prince, so he stopped. "...you got me in trouble? How so?" He was racking his brain, and figured it had something to do with one of the many times he had gotten caught by her father.

Prince bit her lip again. "When I ran away. It jus so happened dat dat same week youse broke outta da refuge. As pay back to my faddah for puttin' youse in dere, and puttin' ya fadah in jail... he thought youse kidnapped me. In reality, I jus ran away ta Queens, and Avalanche hid me. I didn't find out dat he thought that until about 6 months aftah I left, more or less. So... in short, my faddah has been so intent on catchin' youse all dis time b'cause he thought dat if he caught youse, youse would tell him where I was."
She was quiet for a second before she stood up. "Well, bettah late then nevah, huh?" she said weakly. She looked off down the street. She was almost certain that Jack would leave now that he'd found out that all his life had been her fault. Her father made her so mad.

Jack smiled sadly. It all made sense now...he had never understood why Snyder had become so hell bent on him...but it all made sense. "It wasn't your fault. Your father is just a sadistic lunatic."
He stood up and after a moment of hesitation he wrapped his arms around her gently. "...yeah it is. And you have no reason to feel bad. It was your father, not you."

Prince stood frozen. Her arms didn't move, her mind was blurred. She couldn't think of what to say, if she should say anything at all. She slowly gave in to the tears pressing at her eyes. And to think minutes ago she had been walking through Queens just thinking about things... and suddenly here she was, telling her life story to someone who she's been trying to avoid telling it to for years. She let the warm tears slide down her face as her breathing became less steady, and more in small gasps and sobs.

Jack sighed. It hurt him to see Prince like this. Someone he had always seen be so strong just crumple. "Oh Prince..." He pulled the bandanna off his neck, thankful he had washed it earlier in the day, and, while still holding her in one arm, began to wipe the tears away gently.
"It's okay...just let it out." He figured this was a culmination of years of holding it in. He rubbed her back gently, trying to sooth her.

She felt like an idiot to be honest. Standing in the middle of the street, his arms around her his bandana in her hand and tears streaming down her face. She'd never felt more vulnerable in a really long time, and it was unlikely that she would be able to feel like this again for an even longer time. Her impulse was once again to push Jack away, but instead she did the opposite and only held to him tighter. For once she decided weakness couldn't be all bad. It would make her stronger later... or that's how it worked in her mind. "Thanks..." she said to him softly as she now couldn't stop the tears that she had allowed to start.

Jack didn't say anything, but did the only thing he felt was right. He picked her up and sat back down, resting a hand on her head to rest on his chest, her hat falling off in the process. He absentmindedly ran if fingers through the tresses, smiling at its beauty before turing back to the crying girl in his arms. "You can't be stroing all the time Prince...its okay." He kept saying that, running his fingers through her hair. She might get up and storm off, after this she might never want to see him again..but he was thankful that he was allowed this chance. And despite the sad tone, he was glad.

After some time had passed Prince got herself calmed down, still feeling stupid for just going off like that. "Wh... what happened ta my hat?" she asked realzing just then that it was gone. If she did put it on she wouldn't put her hair up, just put it on. She didn't want to lose it, a friend had given it to her.
She sighed and looked up at him. "Thanks again... for... understandin' and not bein' angry with me," she said sadly.
