Jack reached down and handed it to her. "Sorry..I accidently knocked it off." HE was worried she was going to tuck her hair up. "...you know..I know why you hide yourself..its a shame to hide it.." He touched her hair gently. He had wanted to tell her how he thought she was the prettiest girl he knew, but instead he blushed lightly. Him. Jack. Blushing. Hell hath frozen over.
"...and don't thank me." He smiled softly, touching her face gently with a finger. "I'm happy you trusted me enough...allowed me in. Thank you for letting yourself do that."

Prince just smiled at him a little. "I won't put it up now, dun worry, Cowboy," she said placing the hat on her head, keeping her golden brown hair down around her shoulders. Though she would have to later, and she knew that, and she figured he did too, but there was no reason right now. Snyder never came into Queens, why should he start now?
"Yeah... well... like I told ya, bettah late then nevah. Jus... dun go tellin' everyone. I cain't imagine how mad dey'd be if dey found out dat I was Mary Ann Snyder. Daughter of Warden Snyder... da one dats been causin' trouble for newsies for yeahs. Dey'd nevah respect or trust me again," she said with a sigh. Having her secret out in the open... not a good thing in her mind. He could find her easily as more and more people learned it, so she needed to keep her secret a secret.

Jack nodded. "...you know me. Your secret is safe to the grave." He smiled softly. "Mary...I like that." HE shrugged. "Its a shame I can't call you that besides in private.." HE chuckled. "And there has been worse, Prince. They would trust you...you have earned it a hundred times over." He smiled softly looking out into the darkness for a few moments, his hands playin in her hair still.

"Yeah," she said. She was in slow realization that she was sitting in his arms in Queens and that his hands were playing with her hair, but she didn't mind any of it at the current time. Though the sun had finally set, and it was now fairly dark out, save for a few lights. Prince sighed slightly. "I dun wanna go home," she said quietly. She was content where she was. True 'home' for her wasn't that far, she could just... walk back in minutes, still she didn't want to. "But I should let youse go. I mean, youse gotta go all da way back ta Manhattan. It's a walk, an'... I suppose you'll wanna get started b'fore it gets too late huh?"

"Then don't go home." Jack smirked. "...I'm fine where I am. I'm not scared of the dark, or walkin' back if I decide to." He looked down at her softly, a new light in is dark hazel eyes. "...I really don't want to go just yet."

Prince nodded slowly. "Okay," she said quietly. So... what was she supposed to do now? She held her position. "Won't your boys start ta wonder what happened to ya? Ya know, if ya ain't home by a... time?" She didn't have a specific time she HAD to be home, but after a while, if she didn't show up some of them started to wonder what became of her. Truth be told she was running out of things to say... though one thing did occur to her...

Jack laughed. "Those boys take care of dem selves, most a the time." He shrugged. "They all know I've needed some time alone." He shrugged, feelin' that blush come back. "I do wish you had told me earlier tho, Prince." He sighed. "maybe you wouldn't a kept me at such a distance for so long."

She scoffed at this. "I doubt it," she said beginning to take herself from his arms so she could stand up on her own two feet again, like she was used to doing. After all, she still had a secret to keep, and reputation to maintain. Though, she didn't want to go just yet either... her mind was really messed up. "Besides, you can't change the past, no matter how much you want to."

He allowed her to stand and stood with her, sad to lose the sensation of her in his arms, which felt right in some strange way. "No you can't change the past. But you haven't done anything to really be ashamed of. Just don't allow that past to haunt you." He shrugged and pressed his hankerchief into her hand as he smirked. "Keep this..to rememmber not to be so negative" It was another open sign of the forgivness Prince believed she needed.

Prince looked at the hankerchief in her hands. Funny how just when she's about to hide herself as a boy again Jack breaks down any barriers before she even has a chance to put them up. She looked from it to him, and smied a little. "Yeah... thanks," she said with a small smile. She put it into her pocket. She wouldn't want to lose it now. She brought a hand up to her hat and took it off of her hat. "I suppose we ought to call it a night?" she said with a small smile as she brought a hand up to her hair to twist it up under her hat again.

Jack instinctively reached out to stay her hand from putting her hair back up under its cap. "...wait."
Wait...wait for what, you doofus? Jack shook his head, unsure why he had just done that. He was nervous, but he could only think of one thing. And how crazy that thing was.
"....Aww hell." Jack said in exasperation as he pulled Prince to him, pressing his lips to hers, a hand slipping into the hair she had been so ready to hide again.

Well, it scared Prince! She had NOT been prepared for that reaction. As twice before her first reaction was to instantly push him away, and leave... but she did the oposite yet again! She relaxed, and sort of let it happen. Well, what was she supposed to do? Apparently he liked her, and she obviously liked him. So, for lack of a better plan Prince opted for the rather un-boyish option in this situation and kissed him back.

The kiss lasted a few more moments, though it seemed much longer, before Jack broke it gently, looking down at Prince, his thumb rubbing her cheek. "...I..." He struggled to find words, and when he couldnt, he just pulled her in close, hugging her gently, kissing her forehead.
"...I didn't meant to startle you."
Ooo..Jack learned how to speak again.
"I just...kind of always have wanted to.."

Prince giggled... no seriously, she did! And she instantly covered her mouth after she did so. It was like a sickness, this whole girly thing, and it was just spreading. Though, she wasn't sure if it was good or bad. "Nah, it's alright," she said with a small smile. "I sorta know what you mean," she said with a shrug, and a small pink tint to her cheeks. She found herself looking for words that simply would not come as well, and it was becoming rather annoying. "But... ummm... yeah... heh."

Jack smiled brightly then, one of his best, and the kind he hadn't shown as of late. "...Good." HE smirked. "seems we both have lost our way with words." He laughed gently. "...you make a beautiful girl, Mary..." He leaned down and kissed her softly. "...but its something only I want to see..." He didn't mean he didn't want her to stay hidden behind the trappings of a boy forever, and seem a girl to him only, only that he liked the way she was acting, for him..in a way that he had never seen before. It was his weird way of saying he wanted her for his own. Not that he was being very eloquent.
Damn David and his inability to be psychic and put thoughts in my head
