The sun was going down behind the New York skyline and Two-Bit had just sold her last paper. She knew Bottle Alley better than any other part of the city, and usually walked down the back alleys as shortcuts to get home. But as well as she knew how to get around, Bottle Alley always made her nervous at night.
She looked over her shoulder at the shadows that were in each corner of the alley and quickened her steps.

Mush was coming the opposite direction down the ally. He was gonna sell around there today. He figure'd he'd move papers quick if he tried hard. He spied Two-Bit coming towards him. "Hi there!" he said with a smile and a wave.

Spot walks around the corner, carrying no papes. In fact, though a newsie, no one had ever seen him attempt to sell a pape. He spys Mush and Two Bit.
"Hiya fellas. How goes buisness?"

"Hiya Mush." Two-Bit said, trying not to sound as relieved as she felt. She didn't want to seem like a little girl, but she immediately felt better when someone else was around. A second later Spot came around the corner. Two-Bit had seen him before, but never actually talked to him. Despite his height he was remarkably intimidating.
"Hey," She greeted him somewhat awkwardly, not sure how friendly to be.

"Yeah, I heard of you." Two-Bit said with a grin, spitting on her own palm and shaking Spot's hand. Had Jack really said she was all that? She wanted to ask him Are you serious? but she had a feeling that Spot was probably usually serious. She made a mental note to ask Racetrack if he had heard Jack say anything about her later.
"So what takes you away from Brooklyn?" She asked, leaning against the nearest brick wall. She didn't want to leave but her feet were killing her.

Grins. "Oh da usual. Makin' sur'h Jacky boy don't need no help runnin da joint. Den I though I'd check out some of da 'hatten sellin' spots. Brooklyn's been a bit slow dese days. Folks dont read da papes da way dey used to."

Jewel passed by a dark and dreary alley when she spotted some figures in the shadows. She didn't like the looks of the alley, but decided to check it out anyway. Spying Two-Bit, Mush, and Spot from the docks, she saunted up to them "Hey, what're ya guys doin' down here?" She smiled.

Looks at a girl he had recently met at the docks. "Nuttin' dese is sellin, I'se is observin'. How bout you'ah self?"

Mush quietly observed the conversation and listened to them all talk. He knew them all, so that was nice for him. But for now he'd stay quiet, and listen.

Across the street, his hands in his pockets; a few of his papes hanging off of his arm, was Blink. He didn't even seem to see them as he walked past people, probably to get somewhere.

Two-Bit was talking with Spot and the others when she saw Blink from across the street. She waved but he didn't seem to notice them.
"Hang on a second..." She told her friends, walking over to Blink. "Hey, Blink! Where you headed?"

He looked over at her in surprise, and then snapped his head to the side, so his ruined side wasn't facing her, completely out of her sight. "Ah, no where really. Gotta find a place to get rid of these." He hefted the last few papers half-heartedly. "You?"

"I sort of wandered down here," Jewel replied to Spot's inquiry. "Saw some shadows in the darkness... I'm a bit nosey." She admitted, shrugging a bit.
