She smiled a little bit against his shoulder before her eyes slid closed and she took in his smell, earthy and very much River. The man knew what he wanted and went for it, even if things were at their worst she'd always believed in him. Funny how life turned out in the end. She had been abandoned time and again, by everyone BUT River.
"This whole thing has made it pretty damn clear-- you only live once..." you only had once shot to make your mark on the world or else you were doomed like the rest. She figured most of them were going to die without doing more than causing some chaos, leaving behind only police records. "This is your one chance.."

"Yeah, but at least we've had fun. You can't ask for more than that." It was his philosophy of sorts, if he had fun every day of his life than his life had been a good one. People who went through it with a frown on their face were missing out. "Plus I have you."
He smiled slightly and placed a light kiss on the top of her head. He had waited so long for her to realize he'd been there and he wasn't going to let her go now that he had her.

She looked up at him and then she laughed, "Yes you have me.." it felt so good to laugh and she would, if only for River. He meant the world to her, it had just taken her ages to come around. Reaching up she ruffled his hair a bit and leaned back. "You and me, River.. You've never let me down.."

He laughed as she ruffled his hair and grabbed her hand, "None of that, missy, it's a mess as it is." Laughing again he reached up to try to flatten his hair a bit, not that it helped much.
He was so proud of the fact that he was one of the few people Lucky could count on and he was glad she knew it. "And I never will."

"Swear," she was laughing but there was a seriousness in her tone as she pulled back and turned to the river, splashing him with cold water. She was tired of dealing with such serious things and she really wanted a laugh. "Swear it!" More water and she run into the water a little bit, though it only came up to her ankles and drenched her skirt. The water was freezing but she was having way to much fun.

He laughed and then sputtered a bit as the freezing water hit him. He ran forward into the embankment with her, trying to catch her. "I swear it! Jeez..." He laughed again and ran towards her, "You're gonna regret that, girl." The wide grin on his face proclaimed that he was joking.

Her brow raised and she splashed him hard again, she might get sick but she needed to laugh. That familiar Brooklyn smirk crossed her face as she splashed him again, grabbing her skirts to run across the embankment. "MAKE ME!"

River laughed and chased after her, splashing water towards her as well. "I'm gonna dunk you when I get you." He laughed again, loving how carefree he could be when he was with Lucky. Too many girls were so proper they wouldn't think of running along the water with a boy. He always loved that about Lucky, even through the hard times she still knew that it was okay to let go and act a little crazy sometimes. He knew he was one of the few that got to see this side of her and he loved that she let him.

She kept one step ahead, holding her skirts to her knees as she raced threw the ice cold water. Trying to keep ahead of him with a wicked grin. Tossing her hair over her shoulder she just laughed, sending him that come and get me smile. She loved that River would play with her. She missed that, having someone to take away all the seriousness of the insanity and showing her that she mattered. River would do that for her and it made her heart melt. Little by little she found herself needing him more and more.
She kicked water at him and laughed, "So when we grow up, what's going to happen?"

He laughed and tried to jump out of the way of the freezing water as Lucky kicked it towards him, although it wasn't helping much considering he was running through it. At her question he gave her a sly grin before diving towards her to wrap his arms around her. "Who says we ever have to grow up?"

"Everyone grows up but Spot!" she laughed and brushed her hair out of her face, though it was getting wet and it was already cold. She moved towards him and then kicked the water at him again. She knew they were going to get sick. "And I WANT to grow up some day I mean, not just-- you know but have the whole.. family thing.. you know?"

River laughed again at her words, "Yeah you're right." He shivered at her splash and finally got close enough to pull her into his arms. "I know so do I, Lucks. Who wouldn't want little Rivers running around?"
Giving her a wry smile, he lifted her up a bit and moved them toward the shore. "And I have ideas of how to get a job. I'm not a bad cook, I was thinking about trying out some of the restaurants in the Bronx and see what I could find. Figured it would bring in a decent pay for awhile."

Her eyes widened and she bit her lip, she'd had her own dream she'd never shared with anyone but Sneaks. Hearing Rivers, she felt like it mirrored her own somehow. She felt amazing where she was now, her eyes slid closed and she sighed. "I want to own a restaurant some day, make baked goods-- I already know some of the running of things from the lady that runs Edelweiss.."

River practically beamed at her words and pulled her a bit closer. "That sounds like a perfect idea. No one ever has enough of those, plus I think you'd look sassy in an apron." He gave her a wink and felt so relieved that she hadn't mocked his own idea. He hadn't thought she would but he knew that most of his friends would if he ever told them.

"I like your cooking," she nodded and smiled, it was like-- things were falling into place for hte both of them. Some day they'd have what they wanted and together if she had her way. "I want that dream you know... just.. guess it seems kind of simple and not so grand but it's still mine.."
