Drifter look at her nervously, he was so afraid she would say no his heart was about to beat out of his chest. But a huge smile appeared when Piper kissed him, he had pretty good idea that was a yes. But when she said those words his smile widened. Giving her a kiss he pulled her into a tight hug, placing his forehead to hers he gave a little chuckle. "I was worried you'd say no."
But their moment seemed to be ruined when a two boys walked from the shadows. Drifter didn't know them but it seemed he didn't want too. Narrowing his eyes he moved so he was standing in front of Piper again this time blocking her from the two. No one was going to hurt his girl if he could help it. His hands balled up into fists at his sides. "Beat it." He growled at them.

Piper felt so safe in his arms as she was kissed one more time and then felt his forehead on hers. Things were going to be okay again in her life now, no more darkness and fear. She felt whole again now having Drifter in her life now.
But it got shattered easily as she saw Oscar and Morris walking their way. She saw Drifter go in front of her with his fists up and ready. She could see the scene of her receiving the shiner and scar going over and over again in her brain and it was killing her. She grabbed Drifter's arm lightly from behind in hopes that he wouldn't get hurt.

Oscar chuckled and looked to his brother before smirking and giving Drifter a good shove, just because he could. "Think youse can take me on? Think again chump." Even though Oscar was smaller than his brother it didn't mean he couldn't handle his own any less.

Piper took a step back from her spot as she saw Drifter getting shoved and seeing Oscar's smile on his smug of a face. Piper tried to think of a way to get him away from them both, but she knew it was going to be too dangerous if she fought them alone and even with Drifter.
"Leave us alone Oscar, we did nothin' "PIper said aloud in some confidence to him.

Drifter stumbled back some from being shoved, his eyes were now narrowed into slits. Gritting his teeth he gave Piper a little nudge back not wanting her to get hurt. He looked over at Oscar and smirked a bit, as if playing off that the shove didn't phase him. Balling his hand into a tight fist he quickly threw a punch at the bully, giving him a good knock in the jaw. Drifter wasn't usually one to fight so he was a bit anxious on how this one would end.

[New Day]
David hoisted the papes in his arm up over his shoulder as he walked along the boardwalk, halfheartedly eyeing the people he passed considering making the sale but thinking better of it. His mind wasn't on the selling, it wasn't even really in Manhattan at the moment but things being the way they were it was best that he was here. The harbor was his favorite place in the city, the bustling area of the shops contrasted against the almost quiet this far out along the boardwalk appealed to him. It gave him some time to think but didn't disconnect him entirely, which he supposed was a good thing, especially when there was no telling when Les might be coming in search of him - though his little brother had stayed behind at home today.
Looking out over the water for a moment he inhaled deeply, the wind mussing with his hair before he turned and looked over the scattered few people walking along the boardwalk and plastered on a smile.

Pallet sat on the ground cross-legged, her canvas in her lap, and her painting palette and box of paints beside her. She had decided to fore go selling papers today because she had been upset lately and wanted to just relax. Painting always seemed to do that. So she grabbed her box of supplies and a blank canvas and had headed to Manhattan to try to capture the beauty and peacefulness of the Harbor.
Pallet looked down at the canvas and then back up at the scene she had just painted. She smiled, deciding she liked it. She set the painted canvas on the ground on her other side and leaned back on her hands and closed her eyes tilting her head up towards the sun-- enjoying the warmth of the rays on her face.
Feeling someone looming nearby, Pallet opened her eyes and looked around. She caught sight of a boy about her age carrying some papers. Davey. She recognized him from when their brothers had been playing around together with a few other boys a little while back---Davey had come to find Les just as she had come to take Shamrock to dinner--and they had said their hello's and introduced themselves. Since then they saw each other here and there but never really had an actual conversation with each other.
Pallet turned in his direction and smiled at him. "Hey, Davey!"

David heard someone call his name and turned his head, searching the boardwalk until his eyes landed on the girl sitting just a few yards off, painting brushes and canvases scattered out around her and he smiled. As he approached he searched his memory for her name, remembering a hurried introduction one afternoon when he's stopped by to pick up Les playing with a few Bronx boys. Pallet. His mind finally settled on her name and his smile grew slightly wider as he stopped just beside her.
"Hey there, Pallet," He dropped the papes he'd been carrying onto the ground beside her before settling there himself, pleased for the excuse to take a break, even if it was a flimsy one. "What are you doing all the way over here in Manhattan?"

"What are you doing all the way over here in Manhattan?"
Pallet gave an exasperated sighed, "I had to get away and relax. I've been here before and always wanted to paint it but never had my things with me. It's so beautiful here, and peaceful." She smiled wistfully. The scenery before her reminded her of the rivers, lakes, and cliffs of Galway. The peacefulness of the countryside. "It reminds me of home a little bit." She was also glad of the distraction painting allowed her. A much needed distraction from the chaos of late and from the constant questions she received from her friends and acquaintances about her recent break up--which happened several months ago so she was over it and wanted to forget about it. Painting allowed her to get away for a few hours.
Pallet turned towards Davey and gave him a genuinely happy smile. "What are you doing here? Slacking off?" she teased motioning towards the pile of papers at his side.
((Sorry so short. The next one will be longer.))

"That's why I like coming here too," David said, listening to her describe some of the majestic and almost unexpected beauty of the harbor. "Helps me think, especially way out here where the crowd doesn't get to much, you can watch the ships and the sun glinting off the water. It's real pretty." David shrugged as he rested an elbow on his knee and gazed out over the water now, battling back the eerie and unsettling thoughts that the warehouse and ensuing events brought tripping into his life. Pain, anger, guilt and the unexpected treasure that he'd found in the middle of it all - a confusing and complex contrast of feeling that continually caught him off guard.
"Nah, just taking a break," He said, motioning to the papers and then shooting her a lospided grin as he glanced back over at her. "Sometimes it's nice to just breathe and not worry about selling some papes." He shrugged and looked down at the painting he saw by her side, noticing it for the first time. "You do that? It looks good."

As Davey stared out at the water talking, Pallet subtly nodded in agreement. It was beautiful. She wished everybody who lived in the city would take the time to stop and realize the beauty around them. Then, maybe things wouldn't be as bad as they were.
"Sometimes it's nice to just breathe and not worry about selling some papes."
"I couldn't agree more," Pallet sighed as she brought her knees up to her chest, wrapped her arms around them, and rest her chin on top, staring out at the water. Nice to not worry about selling papes, not worry about the heartache or pain you've been through, and to be able to forget for a few moments about all the trouble you and your friends were going through...
"You do that? It looks good."
Pallet turned her head to face Davey, resting her cheek on her knees, glancing down at the painted canvas beside her. She gave him a weak smile, "Thank you... Yeah, it seems to help me forget all the bad stuff that's been happening, for just a few moments. Helps me to relax." She stared at the picture she had painted of the harbor. The beauty of the water, the sun shining on the water, and the boats passing by, seemed to soothe briefly the worries she had for her friends.
Pallet looked up at Davey, "Seems like I'm really the one slacking off... Sitting here painting instead of working..."

"Seems we all need something to take our mind off things these days," David commented, knowing that Manhattan had made it out of the warehouse better than some. He's heard about the loss of little Perry Halliway and the ensuing gaping hole the death had left on everyone in the Bronx, particularly his family. David couldn't imagine losing Les the way that Perry had been ripped from his siblings; there one moment and gone the next with only empty memories left behind. "How are things over in the Bronx? Everyone holding up okay?" He asked, because he kept meaning to go down and talk to Dodger himself but hadn't made it over there and he felt guilty about it.
He smiled a little when she said she was slacking off and he leaned back, resting his weight on his hands as he looked over at her. "I think that we all have those little things we do instead of working. You paint...I walk," David grinned before shrugging his shoulders and picking up one of the papes and flipping it in his hands. "I don't think many of us feel much like working these days."

"How are things over in the Bronx? Everyone holding up okay?"
Pallet looked solemnly at the surface of the water just below her. "Well, I guess they're holding up the best they can given the circumstace. It's been really hard on all the little ones in the house, my brother Shamrock included. They were all just devastated to hear they're best mate had been killed. And, of course, Reid and Lexi are taking it really hard... Especially Lexi. Reid and everyone have been really worried about her..." Pallet wrapped her arms around her middle feeling a sudden chill. "Makes me greatful to still have Shamrock. When I found out about Perry, I couldn't help but immediately go find Shamrock, wrap my arms around him, and thank God that he was safe... Out of courtesy for Reid and Lexi's situation though, Shamrock's been spending more time with his friends and Byron. I don't want to unintentionally hurt Lexi if she saw me and him together." She recalled the utter devastation and helplessness she glimpsed on Reid and Lexi's faces when they returned from the fight. And, then when everyone found out what happened, the several tears that were shed by many at having lost a dear friend.
"I don't think many of us feel much like working these days."
Pallet looked up at Davey and smiled weakly, "Yeah. I heard sales aren't doing so great right now. Luckily, the people running the Lodging Houses are understanding. They're cutting everyone some slack. I think once everyone's had a little time, things will go back to being somewhat normal..." Pallet moved her hair off her left shoulder and swept it over to her right.
