Styx grinned at the praise from his leader and nodded in agreement at the warning. Though the smile wasn't up to his usual standards, it was definite improvement. "Will do," he said confidently, "and thanks." He tipped his hat to Prince and then ran out of the LH. It was a long way to Manhattan and he wanted to make it there before the evening crowds began to swarm Medda's.

((New Day))
Buttons huffed a bit as she ran down the stairs to the main room, skidding to a halt she got down on her knees and looked under the ratty old sofa. Pouting she popped back up and searched the rest of the room quickly, looking in every nook and cranny in the main room. Biting her lip she turned quickly her blond curls flying every which way as she moved. "Has anyone seen Tubby?!" She called out as she continued her search. She had misplaced the bear at some point in the day. She remembered have him when she and Calico had sold papers that morning, but she didn't remember where she had put him afterwords.
Taking in a deep breath she sat on the old couch, she wasn't going to cry over this. She was a big girl after all. Scrunching her face up in thought she placed her elbows on her knees and laid her face in the palms of her hands trying to mentally retrace her steps. Tubby had to be somewhere in the house.

"Come on kiddo, we're late for the meeting.." Calico felt like an older brother to the small blond, which for him was strange seeing how he'd tried to keep his circle very small. But he had made it his duty to look after the smaller kids in the borough. Even Half-pint on occasion needed someone to keep the scamp out of trouble.
He'd been known to give shoulder rides or carry the kids around because they were smaller and he felt like they needed to see. At the moment? Well he sighed. "Come on Buttons, we're already late.. don't want to miss the big speech-- what's wrong?" he looked around a bit. She looked a bit upset.

Buttons looked up when Calico spoke to her, she had forgotten all about the meeting. "Sorry Calico," She said with a sigh and slipped off the couch, making her way over to him stand by him. A little look of defeat played on her features before she shook it way, she was going to find the little stuffed thing she was determined.
"I can't find Tubby," She said looking up at him, "I don't remember where I put him after sellin' this mornin'." Buttons gave another sigh and blew a blond curl away from her face. Giving one last look around the room. She would just have to continue her search for the bear when they got back from Manhattan.

He sighed and thought about that, the bear meant a lot to that little girl. He considered skipping the meeting but knowing Prince would have his head he lifted Buttons onto his shoulders and patted her leg.
"Dont' worry, we'll look all over for Tubby when we get home okay?" he would help, it was strange to him that someone so small actually mattered to him. But-- he managed. Taking her on his shoulders out of the room he headed towards the meeting. "We'll look all over for him and get the others to help too.." he could do it, when he talked they listened.

The little girl gave a small smile when Calico picked her up. He always seemed to be carrying her around but she didn't mind, they got places faster that way and since they were late to the meeting she just held on to him.
Her smile widened when he said he would help, "Thanks Calico!" She said happily, she knew that with others helping they would find Tubby in no time. Buttons watched as they left the lodging house and headed towards Manhattan.

((New Day))
Prince looked out the window with a loud and heavy sigh. Spring should be here by now! After a long and rather depressing winter she was looking forward to the green parks again! The days she could walk outside and roll up her sleeves... and jumping into the river without long hair for once!
She reached up and took the hat off her head. She had cut her hair long ago. She ran her fingers through her hair and then sighed again as she rather harshly tossed her head into her hand. She was tired of being inside! She was tired of the depressing winter, and sincerely wished for an uplifting spring time already! The annoying thing was it looked like a beautiful day. When in reality it was about 30 degrees outside. Would there be no end to the freezing tundra of new york?!

Half Pint was tired of being cooped up inside all winter. He couldn't wait until he was able to just run around outside or jump in the river for a swim. Waking up this morning and seeing the bright sun shining outside, he got excited. He quickly threw on his clothes from the night before and slipped his shoes on--forgetting to tie them--and flew out the door of the bunkroom.
Half Pint--grinning from ear to ear--excitedly ran down the stairs and made his way to the front door. After tripping on his untied shoelaces and falling to the floor with a loud THUD, he quickly got back up and flung the front door wide open. A huge burst of shockingly cold air hit him before he could even step foot outside. His smile faded away as he back up and slowly closed the front door.
His shoulders slumped, a frown on his face, and his lip jutting out in a pout, Half Pint shuffled to the main room and plopped himself onto a sofa next to Prince. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, and looked over at the Queens leader and muttered, "Hi, Prince."

Prince watched Half Pint go through his obstacle course just to end up with a sad face on the couch beside her. She had to stifle laughter at everything that seemed to go wrong with the poor boy, but she couldn't help but have sympathy for him. "Heya kid," she said with a half smile on her face. "Duncha hate days like this? It looks so warm... but the frickin' wind has ta go and mess it all up."
She glanced over at him. She really wished there was something she could do for the poor boy. All the kids in the lodging house of late were... well restless. Spring fever had hit with a vengeance! And it seemed to have everyone under it's thumb. The unfortunate thing was, she couldn't think of a single thing to do to cheer everyone up. Then again, ideas had strange ways of forming in her head when she thought nothing would ever happen.
"I'd love to go out and run around and... just work off some steam ya know?" she said looking at him before putting an arm around his shoulders and rubbing his arms to warm him up, after the frost shock he had received by opening the door.

Half Pint began to warm back up from Prince rubbing his arms. "It's not fair!" He pouted jutting his lower lip out further and pulling his hat of his head--his shaggy hair falling into his face. "I want the sun to come back. I miss swimming in the river and playing outside. There's nothing to do in here and Snoddy doesn't come see me as much when it's cold outside." Styx was around to keep him company but he really missed playing outside with his best friend.
Half Pint leaned back on the couch, picked his feet up off the floor, and crossed his legs. He began picking at some threads hanging off a tattered hole in his pant leg.
(Sorry it's not very long. I'll try to make the next one longer.)

Prince chuckled. "Poor thing." she teased before giving him a hug. "What if I think I could find us a nice warm place to run around with fresh air and where we wouldn't freeze in the wind?" she asked. "I thought I might ask Aria if we could borrow her hall and maybe clean it out, and run around!" She looked at him. "It'd be better than the cold, we could still run, and open all the windows too."
She smiled at him and took her arm back. "Better than the frozen wind don't you think? We could even get the boys from Manhattan down here! It'd be a blast!" She was kinda proud of herself for the idea, and if the kid would go for it, maybe the other newsies would like it too.

Half Pint's head shot up, "You mean it, Prince?! Do you think Miss Aria would let us do that?!" Now he couldn't sit still, he began shifting excitedly in his seat. He was just bursting with energy from a long winter cooped up inside. The chance to expel all that energy was just what he needed. he couldn't wait any longer for it to warm up outside.
Half Pint grinned at Prince, "Snoddy could come too?! I miss him. When it's cold outside he doesn't come to visit me very much... And I can't wait for it be get warmer to see him... Did you know he can catch fish with his BARE HANDS?!" He turned on the couch to face Prince and continued with the exaltation of his friend, "He learned in Australia and he said when it gets warmer, he's gonna teach me!"

Prince forgot just how much energy small children had. Wow. But she couldn't keep from smiling at the small burst of blonde hair. Who could? he was far too adorable. She may have been a little shocked when the kid was so quick and sudden with his response, yet he remained adorable none the less. "Well..." she said thinking out loud. "I don't wanna make any promises, but I'll try ta see her sometime soon sound good nuff?" she asked with a bright smile.
Before she knew it he was off and rambling about the Manhattan boys again, Snoddy, specifically. This kid sure did have a thing for him didn't he. "Catch a fish with his bare hands, really? And he'll teach you. Kid... I might be a little jealous," she said with a sideways smile at the small boy.

Half Pint's grin grew wider as he jumped into Prince and wrapped his arms tightly around him, "Oh Thank you, Prince!" He didn't care that boys 'weren't supposed' to hug other boys, he was too excited to hold it in. He released the older boy from his tight embrace and moved back, finally feeling the possession in his back pocket he had forgot about.
Half Pint pulled his slingshot out of his back pocket and began pulling the sling back and releasing it over and over. He sat up a little straighter filling with pride that an older boy was jealous of him. "Snoddy's the Best! He can do anything." Even though the boy wasn't his blood, Half Pint felt a great affection and admiration for Snoddy--like a younger brother would his older brother.

She smiled and laughed at little at him snapping his slingshot over and over again. "Now don't go gettin' too far ahead of yourself. I gotta make sure this is all okay and clear before we go tellin' everyone in New York that we're throwin' a party, okay?" she said as she reached over and ruffled the boys' hair. "'Til then, our secret, just you and me, yeah?"
"So, Snoddy can do anything huh? What other neat stuff has he shown you?" she asked. She folded her hands and put them behind her head, resting her head on them. She enjoyed watching the children and kids in Queens being so happy, especially at the thought of spring. She was excited to get out and run around again soon herself. Still there seemed so much that needed to happen soon and with all things going on... could it really be that she'd gotten so old so fast?
