Jewel's blood began to boil suddenly when Emma hit her in the head with her pillow, and then she heard her call her a 'brat'
"Oh no! Who do you think you're calling a brat?! I'm no brat, and I'm fucking sorry if my love life is an inconvience for you. Ikve had a lot of hard times lately, all of them in the span of a month. Why the hell do you think I left that hell-hole in Brooklyn? You have no idea what happened to me up there!" She snapped in a hushed tone.
Just then, she heard Emma talk about Spot, and in someways, Jewel felt as if she was calling her a liar. She took the pillow from Emma, and hit her back.
"Screw you! You don't know shit! Don't you dare talk about my life like you know anything about it." She saidn her eyes narrowing.
"My crush on Spot was severely blown because of another guy that he saw me consorting with. Now, I came here to start over! Lexi gave me this opportunity. Please don't fight with me. I'm sorry for waking you." She said.

To be absolutely fair that was EXACTLY what Emma had called her, a liar and a fake more or less. She couldn't imagine any in Brooklyn dealing with this girl for very long and Emma would have ignored her if not for the fact she was exhausted and her chatter had awoken her from a dead sleep. She was a bear when bothered and though she was full of sass on a regular basis, she was even worse when she was pushed. And this girl-- was pushing her hard.
"Are you absolutely unhinged?" The petite blond asked, eyes widening as she looked at the girl. She wasn't sure if she should call a doctor or hit her again. But, instead she opted for letting her mouth run. "Your love life? I can almost promise you that there was NOTHING between you and Spot no matter how much you'd have created something in your head, brat." she managed to grab the pillow before it hit her and thwacked Jewel a good few times with it, her eyes a blue blaze as she was awake, angry and more so wanted to kill.
"I doubt very highly that Spot CARED! Obviously YOU don't know shit..." She huffed as she pulled back, yanking her pillow and going to her bed to grab her blanket and slip on her shoes. "I can't BELIEVE Lexi let some idiot like you into our bunk room. This is for SLEEPING not for laying on a sob story, oh boo hoo, no one loves me... waa, waa.." Snorting she ran her hand through her tangled blond hair and started for the door.

Lexi yawned as the loud voices of the girls roused her from her sleep. She punched her pillow and scowled, she had been having an amazing dream that involved Dodger and some unmentionable things. Her scowl widened when she raised her head, blinking away the sleep to take in the scene in front of her. She stayed quiet for a long moment, her eyes bouncing back and forth between Jewel and Emma as they exchanged words. She had not been expecting the girl to get into an argument with one of the lodgers on her first night, regardless of the fact that she was from Brooklyn. She realized they had tempers but if Jewel wanted to make things work here she needed to get along with the girls. Because the Bronx was not Brooklyn and all of them did not thrive on arguing with one another. Letting out a small yawn, Lexi stood and walked over to them both.
"I do not want to deal with this." She turned her eyes to Jewel first, a scowl still firmly planted on her face. "You may not be tired but we are. We have to get up early and around here that means actually sleeping. If you want to talk there are plenty of other places in the house to do that. There's no reason to be arguing on your first night."
Her attention then turned to Emma and even though there was a scowl still deeply planted on her face there was a twinkle of amusement in her eyes. She knew this wasn't how Emma was, but...well, Emma could be compared to a bear in some ways especially when it came to her sleep. If you woke the sleeping bear then you better be prepared for it to bite your head off. "A pillow? Really? Go back to sleep, I know you need or you'll be grumpy...well grumpier," She said with a slight smile.
She turned back to Jewel, her face lightening a bit, "I know you aren't trying to cause problems and you just wanted to get to know someone, but now is not the appropriate time for that. If you both really can't sleep then just head downstairs. Like I said plenty of rooms in the house for girl talk."
She couldn't help but silently agree with Emma on the whole Spot business. She'd been thoroughly put out by what Jewel had said about him to her. She'd never met the man but she'd heard enough about him to not appreciate the sour remarks that Jewel made. Lexi wasn't the type who believed in or appreciated gossip. She turned and practically dragged herself back to bed before pausing and turning to Zoo. She gave her a smile, "Welcome back." Although they'd never really conversed much, Lexi remembered her from when she'd been there before. She was just upset that she had to come back on a night when there was drama.
"Everyone go to sleep or get out, please." She said as she dropped back onto her bed and closed her eyes. Hopefully her mind would take her back to where she'd been previously in her dream. It had been one of the best she'd had in awhile.

Jewel couldn't believe her ears. What the hell was wrong with this girl? She was trying to have a conversation with Zoo, who was willing to listen, and this girl had ruined that.
As Jewel was getting whacked with the pillow, she began to get madder ad madder. When the hitting was over, she stood up to the girl, looking her in the face.
"Ya know what? Maybe you're right. Maybe there was nothing going on between Spot and I. Besides, I never said there was. I said I was in love with him. But that doesn't mean he knew about it!" She snapped.
"Look...I'm not a liar or anything. I've just been hurt too much. Most recently by the guy who Spot saw me fighting with that same night." She said.
Jewel then watched as the girl headed for the door. She then walked up to the girl again.
"Look I was lectured today about making snap judgements about people. So I'm gonna tell you the same thing I was told... Don't assume things about me. You know nothing about me. So like I told that guy back in Brooklyn a while back... You can go to Hell!" She snapped.
Just then before she knew it. Jewel was getting reprimanded by Lexi. Jewel hung her head in shame.
"I'm sorry, Lexi. I will try to keep it down. Didn't mean to get loud or nothing." She muttered sadly.

Emma turned to look at Lexi when she spoke a slight smirk on her face when she told her she needed to sleep or she'd be more grumpy. It was true, muttering and ignoring Jewel all together she grabbed her jacket from the peg.
"-'m gonna go sleep with Reid..." Though there was a sense of sadness in that Perry wasn't there to snore in her ear, she offered Lexi a smile as she slipped on her shoes, fingers through the rampant curls. "Just have to nudge him over, River's to big and he gets grumpy anyway because he's all for his girl in Brooks." She shrugged, her boys-- if Emma had ever been aware that girls weren't supposed to do what she did do with the boys, she never mentioned it. She just did what she did and took it for granted that she could get away with it. She got away with a lot more than she should some days.
"... and Dodger gets all mad and he snores anyway, dunno how you suffer it Lexi.." With that Emma gave the room a wave (Jewel the bird) and headed off to the boys lodging house.

Lexi lifted her hand in a silent wave to Emma when she told her she was going to the boys house. It wasn't an odd occurrence for that to happen. Lexi couldn't help but chuckle at her comment about Dodger snoring but it was muffled by her pillow. She lifted her head to yell after the girl, "At least it keeps you outta his bed!" She grinned as her head flopped back down on her pillow and her eyes slowly shut. She needed her sleep and with Emma going to the boys house she wouldn't have to worry about her and Jewel ripping each other apart.

Jewel went wide-eyed as she heard what Emma said about going to sleep with Reid. *Maybe this was girl was unhinged! Going to sleep with the boys?!* she thought to herself.
Never in her life would she think of that...unless she were seeing any of them, that is. She then turned to Zoo with an apologetic look, and sighed.
"I guess we could continue to get to know each other in the morning. I think I'm gonna take everyone else's advice, and just go to sleep."
Then she turned to Lexi "I'm sorry for causing so much trouble. I didn't mean to." She said in a sad voice.
She then walked back to her bunk. Climbed to the top bunk, and laid down.
Then. Within the darkness of the night, Jewel did something she hadn't done since she was in the orphanage. She literally cried herself to sleep. No caring who heard her.

Zoo had been sitting quietly through the entire ordeal. The fact was, she had probably never been in the presence of so many bickering girls...two. She lived in a boys world, and though she was a peacemaker at heart, she had no idea how to help settle this one. She ended up sitting there pretty worthlessly. She felt awful when the sleeping girl woke up. She wasn't really sure who's side to be on - she didn't know Spot or most of the other boys personally. She wasn't able to get a word in with the outraged blond, she was already out the door. In some respects, she sympathized - need for sleep can drive one mad sometimes.
"Sorry for that" she whispered to the recently awoken girl. She vaguely remembered her from before, but not quite as tired.
She smiled at Zoo. "Try not to worry...we all drive people a little nuts sometimes." Jewel quickly went up to her bunk, and Zoo could hear her crying. Tired as she was, Zoo stood on the ledge of her bunk in order to see the top one, then gently patted Jewel's back.
((OOC: Sorry for the awkward lack of my character in that thread...))

Jewel turned around with a start as she felt a hand on her back. She turned to see Zoo standing on the ledge of the bunk, trying to comfort her. She turned to her, her eyes teary and blurry. She was trying to go to sleep. But greatly appreciated Zoo's comforting gesture.
"I'm sorry about fighting in front of you. You just get back from Boston...and the first thing you had to hear was that bickering. God... Why does almost every person I know give me shit? I didn't mean anything by what I said. It was a just some harsh things that I had to get off my chest, ya know?" She sighed.
Jewel then turned towards the window, looking out at the view once again. She smiled weakly "Ya Know, Zoo. I came here to start over from my last life. When Lexi gave me an opportunity to stay here, it was like a dream come true. She befriended me, no questions asked. I saw this as a chance to escape from Brooklyn. Then I met this really nice guy in the park out here earlier today...and I made another friend." She told Zoo in a whisper.
"I'm really glad I met you before I met the girl that just left, cause I wouldn't want the first girl I meet aside from Lxi to be the one I fight with." She said.

Zoo felt bad for the girl. She knew how hard it was to loose someone.
"Sometimes the world seems against you. Don't worry about the arguing. Like I said, it happens to the best of us."
Balancing on this bunk was tiring, but she took the opportunity to stretch out her tight calves. The girl really did seem innocent and sweet enough. And Lexi's very kind to give you a chance to try things here in the Bronx. There's more good people here, you'll find 'em. And I was glad to meet you too, Jewel. See you in the mornin'."
Zoo gave Jewel's back one last pat and slipped down onto her bed. Laying down, she felt confident that sleep would soon overwhelm her. She tried to breathe and listen to the noises outside, just late enough to hear a few fading voices.

Jewel sighed, wiping her tears away. In the morning...she would need to walk somewhere to clear her thoughts later. Sleep was starting to overcome her.
"I think that if I had stayed in Brooklyn any longer. I would've lost my mind." She told Zoo.
Jewel then yawned, and wrapped one free arm around Zoo's neck in a gentle hug.
"Thanks so much for listenin' ta what I had ta say. I'm gonna go ta sleep. Got lots ta do in the mornin'. See ya then." She said.
With that, she rolled over, and shut her eyes to sleep.

New Day
When Jewel arrived home from the bridge, it was almost nightfall. She sighed heavily as she arrived back at the Bunks at the Lodging House. She was tired, but at the same time, she knew she would not be able to sleep.
She wondered who would be around at the house. Maybe Lexi, Zoo, anyone would be good right about now.
Jewel could not stop thinking of her encounter with Luke on the bridge. It was so odd. He just kept asking her all these questions, and she had given him a lot of information. She had practically dug 4 people graves of their very own. Heaven knows what Luke wanted with all of them.
*Oh you've really done it now, Julianne. You let yourself get suckered in by another cute face. Damn it!* she thought to herself as she headed into the bunkroom and walked towards her bunk.
She climbed to the top bunk, and sat up there cross legged with her pillow in her lap. She then looked out the window. She could faintly hear voices outside of the people who walked the streets.
She then kneeled on her bed, and folded her hands to pray. "God, I know I shouldn't ask for specifics. But I would like for people to treat me better. I would also like for you to bring my sister back to me. Please let me find her. She's very important to me. Also, can you please apologize to Jacob for me, God? I've been bad today. But I promise...I will change my ways.... Amen." she muttered in prayer.
She then laid herself down flat on her bunk, putting her pillow behind her head. She was just lying there. She turned sideways, and let a lonely tear fall from her face.
"God help me...please." she whispered out loud to herself.

Pallet laid in her bunk staring at the wall. She was having a hard time falling asleep; she couldn't stop thinking about her meeting with Styx. Who knew she could meet someone like him in this city? They had so much in common and he was so sweet. Remembering the way his smile lit up his whole face, she couldn't help but smile herself.
Pallet pulled her blanket up around her shoulders and sighed. Just then she heard someone come in the bunkroom and climb into one of the top bunks three bunks away. Most of the other girls were still out with their guys or just out having fun, so it was relatively still quiet--minus a few of the younger girls who either were snoring or talking in their sleep.
Pallet turned over on her bunk to figure out who it was. She listened to the young girl as she said what sounded like a prayer. That was a rare thing to hear outside of church around here. Kids who have been around a while figured out early on that God didn't help street kids--street kids helped street kids. They believed the answering of prayer was saved for the wealthy. Must be someone new if they were still believing in prayer... Must be the new girl everyone was talking about.
Pallet sat up quietly on her bunk and listened for a few minutes to see whether the girl was still awake. Hearing an amen to end the prayer coming from that direction, Pallet stood up and wrapped a shawl around her shoulders to keep the chill away. Then, she quietly made her way over to the new girl--stopping to check on the little ones, tucking blankets around them and picking up dropped pillows along the way.
Pallet stopped at the end of the girl's bunk just as she whispered God help me...please. She stepped closer to the girl before whispering, "He can't help you, sweetie, if you won't help yourself first..."
(occ: In no way am i trying to offend those who do believe in God. Cause I myself am a christian and believe in Him wholeheartedly. I'm just writing how i believe they would think in these situations.))

"He can't help you, sweetie, if you won't help yourself first"
Jewel jumped slightly when she heard the voice below her bunk. She looked below her to see a girl standing there. Jewel figured that the voice belonged to her.
"I'm sorry... I didn't know if anyone was here. I just figured I'd say my prayers. I always did them before bed when I was younger. I'm sorry if I disturbed you though. I've just had a lot of things on my mind is all. A lot has happened to me today, and sometimes praying just helps me." She whispered to the girl.
Jewel looked around the room, as she attempted to swing her legs over the bunk "It's always nice to get back home after a long day of working, ya know?" she said
Jewel then lowered her hand towards the girl, and smiled slightly "By the way, I'm Julianne...or Jewel if you perfer. I'm pretty new here. I used to work in Brooklyn, but I've only been here about a week or so...and you are?" She asked the girl.

"Yeah, I've heard about the kinda week you've had." Pallet smiled to herself. This girl has had a lot happen to her since she joined the Bronx, from what she heard lately. She couldn't understand how someone could get herself into so much trouble in such a short amount of time.
Pallet released her shawl with her right hand and took the one the girl was offering. "Pallet," she whispered. Releasing Jewel's hand, she grabbed the loose side of her shawl and pulled it back around her shoulder.
Pallet looked around the room to make sure Jewel's talking wasn't disturbing any of the kids before deciding to address Jewel's comment about her prayer. "I was already awake so the praying didn't disturb me; although I don't see how it can be of any help to anyone around here... You just need to remember that if the lights are out at this time of day, it's quite likely there's sleeping kids in here and you should keep your voice down to a dull whisper if talking at all... Everyone has to get up early to work and if these girls don't get enough sleep, most of them can be bitches in the morning. Then, you need to watch out because if they know it was you keeping them up all night, well let's just say the Brooks girls will seem like angels," she whispered stepping closer so her voice would have a shorter distance to travel.
