she wanted reeves sister to like her.Since she liked reeves,how much was still unsure to her.

Reeves laughed as she shoved him and then pulled him back. He loved how Jade had a great sense of humor, she matched his joshing remarks with ones of her own.
."Do ya tink she'll like me?
"Oh yeah, yeah she'll really like you I bet. It will be nice for her and probably for you too, to have another girl around. I don't really care about the thing she cares about, and when I get home from work I'm always sore and kinda tempered. She'll like somebody as easy going as you. She might hand you a grammar book though."
Reeves snatched up her hat unexpectedly, his eyes twinkling mischievously and he danced out of her reach.
"Fancy a game of tag, cause I got your hat, and you're gonna have to catch me to get it back!"
He took off down the street, laughing and waving her hat at her.

"Reeves!I'se will git ya!"she took off down the street after him,her hair in her face.She then noticed that for a newsie,ya needed a hat.she chased after him and launched herself after him,knocking them both into alley way were they both landed on a big pile of cardboards.
Both of them on the ground she reached over and snatched her hat and his,lightly hitting his chest with it at everyword she said."So i'se win reeves,i'se would take off witcha hat but i'se don' know da way..."She trailed off than laughed,smiling down at him triumpthly.
"A gramma book,really?not me fault i'se got an accent!"She said her face mock serious but her eyes dancing.

He laughed. "Okay, okay you won, you won. You'll hafta take me hat sometime when we're in Bronx, eh? Then you'll know your way around and I can chase you."

Reeves just smile. "Well, she's a teacher you know. But don't change, I like yer accent."
Reeves thought he saw something move in the shadows. He sat up and looked around, when he turned, there stood a thug.
"Well, well, what we got here in my alley? huh?" the thug asked, pounding a club into his palm.

Jade stood up slowly her eyes vivid."Do you'se want me sling shot or me knife?"Jade whispered to reeves,'Here we go again!'jade thought to herself.she stepped forward and gave the thug a fake smile."Wanna play?" She looked at reeves waiting for him to say or take whatever weapon,jade can fight,dirty,she didn't want reeves to get hurt,so if he wanted the option was for him to go out and wait for mew to come out or he could help me out,by the size of the thug,we would need help.she could fight but he was no spot conlon.

Reeves had never fought with a knife, no in Jersey they fought with fists, and Reeves could pack a pretty good punch. He refused both objects and clenched his fist, not sure if his fists would stand up against a club, yet he had Jade to help, her living on the streets and all, and also, he was quick, probably much quicker than some thug.

Jade nodded and noticed he action,so she threw her slingshot to the ground and pocketed her knife just in case,and looked at reeves for a minute before walking slowly,calmly.the thug walked up to her and reached to grab her but she punched him in the throat,he gagged and doubled over,so jade grabbed his collar and started wailing on his face.she felt a sharp pain on the back of her head,and her eyes rolled in the back of her head and she slowly sunk against the guy,he laughed and jade kicked him in the shins but she was dizzy so he chucked her against the wall and she hit it with a sickening thud,and he started towards reeves,while in the back round jade was trying to stand up and was shaking her head constantly.She gave him a wink as to signal that she was ok.

Even though Jade signaled to him that she was fine, he was still worried, she took a hard hit with her head against the wall, but he didn't have time to worry, the thug was coming towards him, Reeves quickly punched the thug across the jaw, dealing out punches, until he saw the thug draw out brass knuckles.

Jade noticed the brass knuckled and started toward the thug,jumping on his back and jabbing her fingers into a pressure point,both of them sinking slowly down until the lack of air,and the pressure point knocked him out and jade released him and he fell to the ground with a hardy thudd.Jade slowly stood up knife in hand just in case he decided to come for the next round,then she smiled at reeves and offered her hand "You'se s'ok?"

Reeves nodded putting a finger up to his bloody lip. He was lucky to get away with only that much.
"You okay Jade? I coulda sworn he knocked you to kingdom come when he slammed you against the wall like that?"
He studied her with concern on his face before he shook his head and said, "C'mon we gotta get to the apartment, we're real late now. Alice is gonna be worried."

He nodded, and smiled. They reached the apartment and Reeves opened the apartment door.
"Alice, I'm home," Alice stormed over.
"Seth Taylorson Reeves, where have you been and why are you so late?" Alice said in a strict tone, hands on her hips.
"I made a couple stops,s' all. I brought home a new friend for supper, Alice, meet Jade," He pushed Jade forward gently. Alice immediately forgot about her brother.
"Oh, I'll set another plate! I'm Alice, nice to meet you Jade."

jades eyes were wide as saucers as she watched reeves get scolded.
Then when reeves introduced me she forgot all about him and smiling and holding out my hand (not spitting in it,even though i wanted too)."Ello I'se Jade."I said waiting for her to say something about my accent,im not well with meeting new people so I stood by reeves,scared stiff to move."Nice place,reeves."Jade said.

The Woodruff's horse-drawn coach rolled along the streets of 5th Avenue carrying Catherine Woodruff and her governess Miss Merideth Lehzen. Miss Merideth was sent to retrieve more lesson books from the 5th Avenue Bookstore and decided it was best for Catherine to accompany her so the two could go over Catherine's recitation lesson, but as usual Catherine's mind was elsewhere. News had gotten out about her rendezvous with the delivery boy. It hadn't made it's way to her father or else he was simply ignoring it for the time, but she heard others speak of her in such an awful manner that it made her want to crawl into a hole. No one had said anything to her straight, but she felt it was only a matter of time.
Miss Merideth clapped her hands to catch Catherine's attention. "Pay attention, Catherine! Now, recite your lesson."
Catherine jumped a little and sat up straight, gesticulating properly as she spoke.
"How happy is the little stone that rambles in the road alone and does not care about careers, and exigencies never fears; whose coat of elemental brown a passing universe put on; and independent as the sun associates or glows alone. Fulfilling absolute decree in...in casual..."
"In casual simplicity, Catherine," Miss Merideth finished annoyed. "Child, you must be able to memorize and recite your lessons if you are to develop public speaking skills as well as how to articulate clearly."
The carriage came to a slow stop and Miss Merideth was helped out by the footman. I'll be gone only a short while. Don't you wander off."
Once Miss Merideth disappeared into the store Catherine tried reciting the poem again. "And then together bore away upon a shinning sea, -- though never yet, in any port, their coming mentioned be..."
Sighing again Catherine looked out of the coach's window at the sight of 5th Avenue.

Reeves was in a good mood to say the least. He really didn't know why, maybe it was the fact that Alice had let up and had let he and his brothers have their favorite breakfast, chocolate cake and eggs. Maybe it was that the weather was so nice. Who knew? He just couldn't help but stride down the street, a bounce in his step, his grin wide, as if he owned these streets.
He slowed his steps when he saw a beautiful black carriage, pulled by two just as fine black horses. Reeves always admired any passing by horses he saw, and these weren't just some old buggy pulling horses, these were fine pure breed horses. He fingered the wheel and stood looking up at the horses, wishing he could pet them. But he didn't know the owner and this coach didn't belong to your average joe. He did a double take when he saw those dark green eyes peering out of the carriage window.
"Catherine!" He exclaimed, his grin growing. He hadn't seen Catherine in awhile, with his routes not being on Fifth Avenue the past week or so, and such. Man he missed her though. She stunned him every time he looked at her. She was just so elegant.
