Z cast her eyes towards where the girl had ran. She felt bad for her. It was in Z's nature to be empathetic. The girl was a bit young for Avalanche but she knew what it was like to be madly in love with your first crush. God did she know.
"I didnt need to know." Z smiled kindly at him. She liked that he had told her the truth even though she hadnt asked it. She would have been perfectly fine if he had run after the girl whether he professed his feelings for her or not, it wouldnt have mattered to her. She liked Avalanche he had a smile that made her smile. If he was happy then thats all she could ask for. Z forms attachments to people fast. It can sometimes be an endearing quality.
"Well, it doesnt look like today is going to be a very prosperous pitch day." She sighed, her shoulders dropping a bit but she kept her smile. "What would you care to do? For i think that will decide where we shall go."

He smiled slightly and nodded to her. "Well... It is gettin' about that time. For food or something yeah?" he chuckled. "Maybe we could find a place to eat," he suggested.
"I figured I'd explain just the same," he added afterword. He smiled to her all the same. "I figure people deserve to know why things happen sometimes," he shrugged. "Better to have a reasoning why than to think that an assumption is correct," he said a he glanced off in the way that Shiner had ran. She was a perfect example.
"So, what sounds good to you? Just... anything? You want greek? You wanna go down to Brooklyn and sit in a smokey bar?" he asked chuckling. "Ladies choice," he insisted.

"Yes misconceptions can get one into a bundle of trouble." Z smiled and shielded her eyes from the sun as she looked in the direction of the restaurants. She knew first hand how much misconceptions hurt as well as how much they hurt others
"Well, I am always up for Greek being italian its a bit of a must." She shot him a a beautiful smile and laughed at her joke on herself. "But if you are more comfortable in a bar, I can hold my own there as well." She tossed her hair over her shoulder and put her hands on her hips as if to say 'just watch me'.
(since i play joe the same goes for Z as well about computer and what not ^.^)

Avalanche smiled at her girlishly tough attitude. He even laughed a little. Not at her, but just at the situation. "Let's just get some Greek , a gyro sounds really good right about now. I'll even buy," he suggested. "If that's okay with the women's movement," he added with a wink as he offered her his arm. "Shall we to Queens then?" he asked pretending to be all high class for a moment.
(mmhmm, it's all good. ^.^)

*New Day*
Devonney sat straight in her seat at a dining class table at L'appétit, resisting the temptation several times to sit back into the soft back of the chair. Her surroundings were shining bright with chandeliers and the sound of violins played softly and eloquently. Devonney tapped her foot under the table, wishing they would pick up some speed, beautiful ballads were wonderful to listen to, but there had to be some merry twirling music too. She sighed softly, staring down at the heavy book she had in her hand, not listening to her stepmother chatter in her high pitched voice.
She glanced around, a small gentle smile on her face, her eyes lighting up, an idea brewing in her mind. She watched her father smoke his cigar, her nose wrinkling. She was used to it of course, the cigar smoke, but his new Cuban cigars smelled awful! She used this to her advantage. Wincing for a brief second, she willed herself to breathe in the awful smoke, and started gagging and coughing for all it was worth, fanning herself with her hand vigorously. Finally gulping down some water, her coughing stopped, but her eyes watered. She excused herself to the ladies room taking out her hankerchief and then fled to the sound of her stepmother scolding her father saying it was his fault. She smiled and whispered, "Thank you father."
Once in the bathroom, she looked around, biting her lip. Then she saw what she was looking for. SHe climbed up onto the toilet, hiking up the gathers of her long white lace dress and toyed with a window lock, finally pushing it open and climbing out the window. She was free! She smiled and hurried away from the restaurant, knowing exactly where she wanted to go. Her favorite place in the Bronx was Pelham Bay Park. Finding her way to a bench, she sat herself down, and lifted her face to the warm sunlight briefly taking in the beautiful weather, before she took her book and opened it up to the place she had left off and dove back into the story of Great Expectations.

Drifter smiled as he examined a pocket watch that he had stolen from some rich guys coat. He nodded his head and tucked it into his pocket as he walked down the path that was part of his selling spot one could say. The sun was shining brightly and he fixed his bowler hat didn't give him much shade from the sun but he liked it. Said it made him look like a gentleman, even if he was smudged with dirt.
Seeing that a girl was on the bench he usually sold by, he smiled charmingly and came up next to her, seeing that she was reading a book, he raised an eyebrow at it. "That any good?" He asked curiously and quietly he didn't want to scare her. He smiled at her, took off his hat, and placing it over his heart.

"That any good?"
Devonney looked up to see a boy with a bowler hat, smiling charmingly down at her. She couldn't help but smile back and nodded in delight, "Yes, very good."
She noted his bowler hat over his heart, and smiled again, laughing softly in a lady like manner, though her pale teel eyes danced freely. "Quite the gentleman I see. Maybe if you engaged in conversation with Pip here, he could learn a thing or two from you," She teased, gesturing to the brown covered book. Her voice was gentle but rich in sound, her cheeks a rosy pink.

Drifter smiled and dropped his papers on the bench next to her. Placing his hat back on his head, he climbed over the back of the bench, instead of just walking around like a normal person. "Ah young Pip would learn many a thin'." He said with a bit of a southern accent his charming smile never leaving his features. His mother taught him how to be a gentleman from a young age, and old habits die hard as they say.
"So what brings ya around here eh?" Drifter asked sticking his hand into his pant pocket searching for a cigarette.

Devonney shook her head, there was something about that smile, she usually didn't fall quick for charm, but this boy was becoming a different story. She smiled and watched him climb over the bench and sit down next to her.
"Ah young Pip would learn many a thin'."
She laughed softly and raised an eyebrow, noting his faint but apparent Southern accent. He wasn't any ordinary newsie, that was for sure.
"So what brings ya around here eh?"
"Oh...I well, escaped you could say. My father, stepmother, and I were attending a luncheon, it was just getting to the point where I couldn't stand to stay inside that stuffy room. Father might be angry with me, but I was just to scene three in this enlightening novel. It was just too wonderful of a day to miss. I had to partake in the sunshine." She smiled, her cheeks crimsoning slightly. "I fled out the back ladies' room window."

Raising an eyebrow he laughed his eyes twinkling a bit, they did that when he laughed. "Never heard that one before. Sneakin' out a bathroom window." He shook his head a bit still laughing imagining this girl in her dress climbing out a window. Must of been quite a sight that raised many curious looks.
Pulling his hand from his pocket he pulled out a cigarette and a match and then looked at her before putting it to his lips. "Ya don't mind do ya?" He asked, his mother always hated it when people would light a cigarette in front of her, she hated the smell with a passion. Being the guy he was he usually always asked if it was okay unless they were smoking already, then he would just light one and make a conversation.

"Never heard that one before. Sneakin' out a bathroom window."
She smiled, still blushing slightly, but her eyes dancing. She watched him dig in his trouser pockets before pulling out a cigarette. She was surprised when he asked if she minded he smoke, and raised both eyebrows in surprise. Quite the gentleman alright.
"Ya don't mind do ya?"
"Oh no, not at all. Trust me, when your father is a businessman, you get used to the smell. You are welcome to it. I won't stop you." She let her eyes travel over the park for a moment as he lit up, and then her eyes widened in remembrance.
"I can't believe I forgot. I haven't even introduced myself, honestly, goodness." She shook her head in slight annoyance, smoothing out the small creases in her frock. "My name's Devonney Froman. And you, charming gentleman?" She smiled, holding out her hand for him to take.

Dragging the match quickly across the bench, he smiled at the sound. That never got old, lighting his cigarette he took a deep drag and shook the match out dropping it on the ground and then smashing it with his foot to make sure it was completely extinguished. Blowing the smoke on the other side away from her he smiled. "What kinda business ya father inta?" He asked curiously putting the stick back to his lips.
"I can't believe I forgot. I haven't even introduced myself, honestly, goodness. My name's Devonney Froman. And you, charming gentleman?"
Drifter raised his eyebrows in curiosity, what could she have forgotten? But his curiousness vanished when she held out her hand and introduced herself. Smiling, he took the cigarette away from his lips and released the smoke before he took her hand gave her knuckles a light kiss. "Nice ta meetcha Miss Froman, me names Drifter." He said charmingly.

"What kinda business ya father inta?"
"He owns a law firm, but he's also very into politics." Devonney explained, fingering the smooth cover of her book, letting her fingers trace the letters. Her hair blew gently in the breeze, curly wisps dancing around her face.
"Nice ta meetcha Miss Froman, me names Drifter."
She smiled when he took her hand gently kissing it. Drifter, it fit him well. She could just tell by his manner that he had been many places. She loved a good story. He probably had many from all the places he had been.
"Please, you may call me Devonney if you wish." She smiled kindly at him before taking in a breath of the fresh breeze.

"He owns a law firm, but he's also very into politics."
"Politics, no offense ta yer father but it seems pretty borin'. " He said making a face before laughing, politics wasn't his thing.
"Please, you may call me Devonney if you wish.
Leaning back on the bench he put his arm on the back and flicked some ashes to the side of the bench. "Devonney, that's a real pretty name." He said with a smile, looking up at the sky he smiled. "Wanna take a walk?" He asked it was a nice day with a nice breeze it was almost the perfect setting for a walk, and he could sell his papes on his way only a few more to go.

"Politics, no offense ta yer father but it seems pretty borin'. "
She joined in laughing, "To tell you the truth, I whole heartedly agree."
"Devonney, that's a real pretty name."
She grinned, her eyes lighting in delight that he had said something so kind to her.
"Wanna take a walk?"
"Why, I'd love to," She grinned again, rising from the bench. She took a couple steps and then grimaced and let out a little exasperated huff. "Hold on." She reached down and took off her fancy little shoes, letting out a soft relieved sigh "Alright, I'm ready." She smiled up at him.
