"Salem." She arched an eyebrow, "So why're you called Lucky then? Fake name? Hiding from someone?" she smirked, "Or are you fond of names that sound suitable for dogs? They seem to be popular 'round here, I've noticed."

Lucky caught the refrence to Spot and started to laugh, "Lucky's my middle name, actually. My old man said he wanted me to have luck wherever I went." She shrugged a bit and took another bite of her sandwich. "Sounds like you met, Conlon."

Salem smirked, "Because giving you a nice four-leaf clover or something would have been a really crazy thing to do, right?"
At her comment about Spot, she snorted, rolling her eyes, "Clearly. Nasty, little bugger." That wasn't entirely said to be a bad thing, but her tone probably made it come off otherwise. But most things she said came off as sounding snappy, so you could never really tell.

Lucky laughed and shook her head, "Naming me Lucky was more of a jinx then anything. But hey, at least my old man cared enough.." She shrugged a bit then started to snicke, taking another bite of her sandwich. "Yep, you meet Conlon. Heh, he makes me laugh."

Salem's lips slowly curved into a smirk, "Ah, irony. It's a killer, ain't it?" She turned away from the bar, grabbing a glass and a rag to clean it with. At the mention of "Conlon," she turned and arched an eyebrow, still smirking, "Yes, if you find kids who strut 'round with canes calling themselves king to be funny, he's absolutely hilarious."

Daisy hurried in the door, waving to Old Joe as she passed. Just like her to be late on her very first day of work. Running a few fingers through her hair she eyed the woman standing at the other end of the bar.
"Hi," Daisy said, stepping behind the bar.

Salem slowly looked up from the glass she was cleaning, raising her eyebrows at the newcomer, "You are aware that customers sit on that side of the bar, yes?" She motioned to the area Lucky was seated in.

"Yes...I know," Daisy said with a cautious smile towards the other woman. She rubbed a hand over the worn wood of the bar. "Joe didn't tell you? I'm the new barmaid."

"'The' new barmaid? I hope you mean 'a' new barmaid." She went back to cleaning the glass, loudly saying, "And of course he didn't tell me," she rolled her eyes, "I'm kindly told nothing 'round here." She didn't have a problem with Joe, just with his apparent inability to inform her of the current ongoings.
She glanced up at the other girl, "Well, find something to make yourself look busy or take a couple of these and start tossin'," she pushed a couple toothpicks over, sending Lucky a smirk as she did so.

Daisy grinned, catching the toothpicks as they rolled across the bar towards her. "I'm Daisy," She supplied as she reached for another glass and rag, drying one just as the other woman was doing.

She arched an eyebrow, "Daisy? Well isn't that nice. Would your parents happen to be Tulip and Dandelion?" Though she had no reason to talk and she knew it. Hell, she shared a name with a city famous for hanging "witches". However, it was in her nature to be "the nasty lady with the sarcastic tone and occasionally comical remarks," and that didn't change for anyone.

Daisy threw her head back and laughed, "If my father has a sense of humor I've yet to find it. His name is John." She answered. Setting down the glass she reached for another one and gazed out over the small crowd at the pub. She wondered how busy it got. Daisy could already tell she was going to like the job, though she knew some people would think the other woman came across strong, Daisy liked her and could tell that work would be nothing if not interesting. "What's your name?"

"Salem," she put down the glass and rag and picked up a toothpick, now aiming at a rather loud man, who was beginning to get on her nerves. She threw it, rolling her eyes when he let out a loud, "OW!" and began raving on at the top of his voice about how much his nose hurt.

"I'd ask if you could put a spell on me but you've probably heard that one before," Daisy said, smiling as the man continued to rave at his discomfort. Putting the now dry glasses back in the places in preparation for the next customers, Daisy asked, "Does it get busy?"

Salem rolled her eyes, muttering, "You have no idea." In response to Daisy's question, she raised her eyebrows, "Unfortunately," she nodded toward Loud-and-annoying, "You'll see a lot of his type, that type," the turned to several men who were as drunk as very, very drunk things, "And occasionally someone tolerable. So, enjoy yourself now before it gets busy."
