Innocence jumped away at the new appearence almost falling into the river but she stopped herself. She didn't like new people really save unless she was with her mommy or soemthing to that effect. She looked at the new person then at Skittery. She was a bit frightened.

Noticing the younger girl's fear, Zero backed up a bit and smiled. She wondered why the girl wasn't with anyone, she couldn't have been more than four or five...

Innocence looked at the girl. The other girl was smiling was that cause she was good. She started to inch back to Skittery's side.

"What?" Skittery turned and found Zero's face. He rolled his eyes and looked back out at the frightened Innocence. "No, she ain't mine."
He smiled down at the little girl as she moved back toward him. "Innocence this is me friend, Zero. "He looked up at Zero and shrugged, "I jus' found 'er here...alone"

Innocence nodded her head as she got back to Skittery's side. She looked up at the older girl and gave her a tiny shy smile. She really wasn't so sure about all these people. But she didn't have anything to lose by exploring places didd she or meeting new people...

Skittery tossed his hat on top of Innocence's head, it was huge. "What ya say, kiddo? Wanna 'elp me sell some of these papes then head home?" He hoisted himself back to his feet and looked down at her. "Do you even know where yer livin..?" He knew with her parents being 'away' she may not even have a place to live like so many others. He eyed Zero again.

Innocence giggled as the hat landed on her head. She reached up and took it off. "Okay" She said. She was living in a big building with other people that reminded her of Skittery but she wasn't exactly sure where it was.

Zero raised her eyebrows at Skittery before smiling at Innocence again. "Well, good luck selling!"

Skittery took his hat back and grinned back at her and Zero. "Yeah well thanks, Zero. " He picked up the paper she had been holding and handed it back to her. Again he went down on one knee to get to her level. Looking at her directly in the eyes he started to instruct the little girl. "Ya see yer pape? Alright, that lady, she looks sappy." He pointed to a woman with a parasol looking out over the water, "Jus' walk ovah there and hold up the paper." He acted it out to make sure she understood it. "An' say somethin' like 'Wanna paper?' or 'Buy one please?' She'll snatch it up in no time!" He was convinced she could sell to a tree stump, she was just adorable. "Don't worry I'll be waitin' right 'ere for ya.." He assured her.

Innocence nodded her head. Taking in everything he told her to do. She was actually shyish by nature but she could do it as long as Skittery didn't disappeare on her. She walked up to the lady with a parasol. Still holding her teddy with her and the pape in her other hand. She tugged on the lady's skirt a tad. "Wanna a pape?"

The lady glanced down at the little voice. Almost instantaneously she smiled, charmed by the little girl and a stuffed bear. Without saying anything she opened up her coin perse and handed Innocence a shiny penny. While taking the newspaper, her other nicely gloved hand brushed across Innocences head and the woman simply said, "Thank you."
Skittery sat back and grinned. If only it was that easy for some dirty young man his age. He practically had to tackle customers at times.

She nodded and ran back to Skittery the shinny penny in her hands. She handed it over to him. She didn't say anything but by the way she ran back she had fun doing it. She giggled a little bit at Skittery's grin.

Skittery pushed the penny back into her palm. "Ya earned it. Plus if ya stick 'round me at least fer tonight I think we can be gettin' a few more of 'em" He counted his papers, only a half dozen left. He held another one out to her and started to walk down the riverbank, slow so she'd be sure to follow.

Innocence shrugged with a small giggle taking the paper and ran after Skittery. She finally got to his side and tried to match his pace.

Skittery knocked rocks out of his path with his staff as he walked, anything to slow his normally large stride to fit the half pint's. She seemed to be enjoying herself anyways which was great knowing that her parents were gone and she seemed to have absolutely no idea where she lived.
He stopped and haggled a man to buy a paper making up some story about needing to feed his sister. After a bit of badgering the man gave in and made the trade with him. Skittery looked down at Innocence, "See what ya do fer me? " He ruffled her hair a bit.
After he started to walk again he asked "Ya hungry, tired, anythin'?" Not really sure what the kid thought about the whole thing.
