"Really?" Firecracker asked. "Den I do believe you'se are right! And you'se win...erm, I'll get back ta ya on dat.."
With another innocent grin, the Manhattan newsgirl pulled Alley Cat out of the shadows. Heck, she had no chance getting away with this anyway, so might as well expose the whole truth. Besides, she had an explanation for the Brooklynite to be in Manhattan.
"Blink, meet me good friend Alley Cat. Alley Cat, Kid Blink," she introduced, before leaning against the side of the Lodging House, arms crossed over her chest. "Before you'se say anythin', Blink, she does have a reason foah bein' here. I'se was headed over ta Queens when I took a wrong turn and ended up in Brooklyn. Alley Cat found me and offered to help me get back to Manhattan, seein' as Brooklyn ain't da friendliest place at night."

Alley nodded her head. She was hoping Blink would take that explanation so she could get back home. If he had caught them then someone hidden in the shadows at home might have. She held her breath.

"I'll expect to get a prize." He pointed to her with his cigarette, smirking.
He looked at Alley Cat with an unreadable expression, putting the cigarette back in his mouth. "I'll agree to dat. Brooks has nevah been a friendly place, even durin da day." He took a few steps, until he stood in front of them. "Well, its nie to meetcha Alley Cat." He held his hand out to her, head tilted to the side.

Alley let out her breath still on the defensive but she took his hand and shook it. "Nice to meetya Blink." She smiled.

"If ya want to take her in," He turned to Firecracker, "dont go through the front door." He leaned agaisnt the steps, hands in his pockets, "I wouldn't advise it, though. You should really go up the firescape and chat for a while on the roof. Most everyone who would care is asleep, but it doesnt hurt to be careful, right?"

Alley jumpped and turned around. "OH hey Slick." She turned back to Blink. "Thanks, but i really should be headed back to Brooklyn. If i don't get back i'm sure things will go sour there too. And quiet frankly its getting pass safe time for even Brooklyn newsies to get back home." She shook her head. "Thanks again. See ya around Firecracker." She turned to Slick.

"Thanks Blink, you'se are gonna get a real nice prize as soon as I can stea--, erm, afford it," Firecracker assured, flashing another innocent grin before turning to Alley Cat. "See ya 'round, Alley Cat. T'anks again."
At the call of the new girl, the Manhattan newsgirl cocked an eyebrow. How many newsies were wandering around at this hour? Furthermore, how many of them actually belonged to Manhattan. She shrugged slightly. Most of the girl newsies lacked the anger to actually soak someone for just passing through the territory, and she was no exception. Besides, Alley Cat seemed to know her, and she trusted her Brooklyn friend to get her back to her own Lodging House.

"No prob." Blink perched on the stairs, head held up by one hand. "...So, she seems like a nice goil, Fire." He hardly seemed concerned that there was a Brooklyn newsies wandering around, and even when the new girl showed up...he shrugged it off. He wasn't a leader, as he was frequently told by some, so why should he care about the affairs of the actual leaders?

Alley disappeared around the corner and headed back over the bridge to Brooklyn.

Sweets shoved open the door and collapsed onto the steps, pulling out a cigarette. Watching someone's retreating form, she cocked her head at the others. "Who's that?" Seeing as how late it was, someone wandering off into the darkness tended to cause one to be curious.

"Random newsie got turned in the wrong direction." Blink answered her calmly. In fact, it was kinda true. Besides, why would anyone doubt hin? "Light?" He asked, holding one out to her.

Sweets rolled her eyes at his reply, wondering how anyone could get turned around in a place she herself knew so well. "Shore," she replied, smiling in thanks at his offer.

He grinned as he lit up her cigarette, rolling his own around in his mouth. "Whatcha doin still up?" He asked with a slightly raised eyebrow. Usually, people slept during such hours.

She laughed lightly, as if he should already know the answer. "Only time I can smoke without lookin' out for da bulls, ya know?" The law against women smoking in public was one she hated, but she would just rather not go to the refuge. "Whatta 'bout you? Couldn't sleep?" she asked, assuming the most obvious explanation.
