"I'd like ta see a bull tell ya you cant smoke in public." He muttered, blowing some smoke from the corner of his mouth. "He's be sore in da mornin and hatin life." He wasn't one of the newsies who underestimated their female coworkers. Nope, not him.
"Naw." He sighed, "No matter what i do, im just not going to get any sleep tonight." He rolled his shoulder gently, working it out. It was aching still, but getting better every day.

She laughed, glancing up to him. "Me? Goin' aftah a cop? A lovely thought Kid, but not exactly realistic huh?" She grinned at him, appreciating that he never talked down about girls.
Frowning she raised an eyebrow. "You alright?" she asked quieter, flicking some ashes off her cigarette as she stood and moved over to him cocking her head only slightly. She knew Blink fought... alot, and whether it was a friend thing or a girl thing, it was always obvious to her when he was trying to hide extreme discomfort.

"Ah, who ever said you would go after 'im?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "I sure as heck aint lettin no bull mess with my friends, and if said friend happens to be a goil who cant beat em...hey...i aint no goil, ya know?"
"Yah...I'll be fine." He stopped moving his shoulder and pulled up a grin, "Im me, membah? Indestructable, Kid Blink!" He shrugged, and kept the wince off his face. He didn't like to make others worry.

Just because it seemed appropriate Golly stumbled down the street. He was still completly drunk. People avoided him, he stunk, wobbled, and was talking to himself. His satchel bounced wildly at his hip as he had no balance. He had been attempting to go home but started in the wrong direction to begin with - what a way to spend you day off.
He came closed to the front steps and stopped seeing Sweets. He pointed a shakey finger at her and hicuped when he oppened his mouth. "Little misssss fifth avenue! " he took in the surroundings "It looks as though youse beeeen newsie-napped by a wee pirate arrg!" All his reason was left in Harlem.

She grinned at Blink's confidence at beating bulls and moved back to sit down. "Indestructible." she scoffed lightly under her breath, giving him a sideways glance. "How about ya at least take a seat then huh? It would at least put my mind at ease.
Sweets quickly stood as the man approached, trying to see him through the darkness. "Golly?" She moved to step closer but quickly changed her mind, instead stepping back. "What are you doin' heah?" she asked as one would speak to a child, looking on him with pity. She could hardly believe this was the young man who had been so kind to her only days ago, or as she had remembered it he had been gallant and brave... but that's beside the point.

He looked around, shuffling his feet to prevent a stumble then back at her and shrugged. He reached out with one hand and found a wall to support his weight. "McLean" He corrected as is he was in uniform "An i was tryin' ta find me house so i could taks me a a loooong nap but it seems ta have disappeared..." He adverted his eyes back to Blink and cocked his head. "Who are ya pirate? I'm McLean." He put out his left hand dumbly to shake the young boys.

Sweets ignored the introduction and moved toward Golly, her face contorting as she smelled the alcohol on his breath. Hoisting him as gently as she could off the wall she turned him around and gave him a little shove. "This aint ya home McLean," she said, sounding annoyed. "So why don' ya just keep lookin'."

Golly stumbled a little but found his feet. He looked down at Sweets, stupid drunk smile still on his face. He picked up on her attitude despite his altered senses an just smiled broaden. "Ya'd make a good bull kid" He said adding a hiccup as punctuation. He stood smiling for a while longer before taking a few steps in the way she pointed him. He was shaky still and found the wall for support once again, resting about 5 feet away from the steps. He started to laugh out laugh amused that he just took an order from a teenager.

Sweets frowned, beginning to feel sorry for him. "Can ya make it home on your own?" she asked, taking a step down from the stairs. "Wheah is it that ya live Mclean?" she asked with a slight sigh, annoyance returning to her voice.

Blink had kept quiet, mostly because he didn't have much luck with their....distinguished police force. But for a moment he paused, trying to figure out why that was. Newsies as a rule didn't associate with the bulls, but didn't he remember something he heard from Red about his friend officer Carter? Biting at his lip he hopped from the steps, "I'll take him home, Sweets." He said calmly, walking toward the officer and stopping in front of him. "You hoid the lady...Where do ya live?"
He was going to give this one the benefit of the doubt...besides, he had been like this once, and someone had helped him out. At this point, it didn't matter whether they were newsie or bull. It was just good karma to help someone out when they needed it.

"Hey it's not problem Kid, you should pry, ya know, rest.." she gave him a worried look, eyeing his shoulder. Glancing to Golly she sighed. "He probably lives round heah anyway, saw him on fifth avenue the othah day." To be honest, she wasn't excited at the idea of dragging a drunk man through the dark streets of New York at night, but she certainly didn't want Blink to be getting any more hurt than he already was.

"Im fine...dis is nuttin but a scratch." He shrugged it off, but there was a look in his eye that told her he appreciated the concern just the same. "Sides, i can get him home on my own, cant I, Officah?" He grinned a little. "But you're welcome to come if you want. You'd be certainly bettah then this idiot who decides to call me a pirate."

A lull in the busy street traffic caused a man leaning against a wagon across the street to smile. With his hat brim pulled down far enough over his eyes, noone thought much of him. Which is why he was able to pull a medium-sized knife out of his pocket, a letter out of the other, and stick the letter to the blade without being stopped. The man paused, looking up and around to be sure not a soul was in the way, and took aim. Then pulled his arm back and let loose, staying in place only long enough to see that his winged message was on the correct path before turning and melting away with a new crowd of traffic.
The blade sliced through the air, coming to rest only when it sunk a good two inches deep into the wood of the Lodging House's closed door with a dull THWUNK that anyone within five feet would hear. The message attached to said piece of steel unfolded itself downward with the impact-quivering that always follows the landing of a knife into wood, bearing the words:
Hark, Dear Newsies! Are you tired of not having enough money to feed yourselves? Buy a special something for a certain someone? Or is work not giving you enough variety in your routine, or your days getting boring? Are you tired of always having to sew up the holes in your socks and shirts and britches instead of buying new ones? Come to our headquarts in Midtown and see how you can finally put that all to an end! Ask for Fletcher Thoms for more details.

Race trudged up the steps, looking, as he often did returning from the tracks, depressed. Glancing up as he went for the door he saw a fairly large knife sticking into the door with a not attached. Glancing around uneasily, he tore it down, pocketing the knife and reading the note quickly. Shrugging indifferently, he took a seat on the steps, placing the note beside him, and lit up a cigarette to relax.

Jack saw Racetrack sitting on the steps, looking like someone died. Must have lost more money at the track...
"Oi! Race! How ya doin?" He walked up, glancing at the note beside him. "...what's that?"
