Hawkeye groaned, "Okay, I get it. My fault. I'm terribly sorry that I can't change my personality." She sighed, trying to think. Rose was sick, Race was mad at her, she just got slapped by a pregnant woman, Blink was basically saying everything her stupid conscience had been saying all along, and she was just lying on the ground. Perfect.
After another coughing attack ended, she groped around under her bed, pulling out a jacket and scarf before standing up, "Come on, guys--" she grabbed the bedpost as she swayed forward, "Get out your money, 'cause we ain't walking to Queens, alright?" She staggered over to her night stand and looked through for extra money she had saved up. She found a little less than two dollars. She shrugged, hoping that would be enough for a cab; she could barely stand, there was no way she was walking.

"I have the ride. Put your money away, Hawk." He pulled out the money he had saved up. "I'm a twig, I don't eat much anyway." The temper wasn't gone, merely simmering for someone to pull it back to life. His gaze flicked to Rose.

Rose squealed, not expecting to be picked up. As she was plopped on the bunk, she looked around, "Sorry..." She seemed to be saying that a lot today.
"Queens? I'm sure that lady is gonna be ecstatic to see us.." Rose said sarcastically. She watched as Blink pulled out some money, "Save ya money, you're gonna need it," she reached into her own pocket, pulling out the coins Race had returned to her, "This should cover it."

Blink just stared at her. "Put it up." He said it softly, but there was a tone that suggested it wasn't a request. "I'm not about to let either of you pay for it." This was something he felt strongly on, and depending on the situation, if you refused, it was offending to him.
"And stop it with Aria, both of you. She's a nice lady, and helped me out quite a lot. I don't blame her a bit for walking out of here. You two were acting like a pair of rebellious two year olds. What if she wasn't here? Hm? We'd die. Most of us, because we wouldn't have a clue what to do. Think the doctors will see us? I wouldn't hold my breath on many."

"Hey, for the record..." Rose sighed and shook her head, she wasn't in the mood to defend herself. Figured she'd just let people continue to yell at her and make her feel like more of a street rat than she already did. Odd how right that Delancey girl was.
"And I never said that she wasn't nice nor did I say I didn't appreciate it. In fact, I apologized, several times, for my clearly irritating personality and qualities. But go figure, who'd actually care about a street r-- Someone like me, anyway," Rose broke into a fit of coughing after her long, and much needed speech.

Crossing his arms, Blink raised an eyebrow at her. "A street rat?" He said softly. "Like me?" He knew who he was. He wasn't stupid. But you know, the newsies never called themselves street rats, never called themselves orphans...or rarely. Because they were all a family, they were the newsies. To suggest differently, was just wrong. In his opinion anyway.

Rose frowned, her intention was not to offend him in any way. All the feelings she had felt, just got worse, "No, you ain't-- I didn't mean--" she looked down at her wrist, running a finger over her bracelet.
She watched as a tear fell and landed on her leg, Look what ya did now. Can't do anything right, can ya?
"Sometimes I just feel so alone," Rose said softly, never really admitting that to anyone before. She realized that she had the whole lodging house at her side, but even so, she maybe only had one or two friends who actually knew anything about her.
Rose swallowed and shrugged, "So we gettin' this cab or not? I have no objection ta just stayin' heah."

Blink's cold mask shattered. He wasn't too good when girls cried, and definately not because of him. He hadn't meant to make her cry...but to understand. Clearing his throat, he held a hand out to her. "Come on...you can come down with me to get the cab."

Rose managed a smile as she looked up to see Blink's hand being held out to her, "Oh, why thank you, it is such an honor."
She let out a small laugh before putting her -- probably frozen -- hand out to his. Before standing up, she grasped her side in pain with her free hand. She smiled and attempted to get herself up from the bed.

Easily pulling her up, he laughed. "I can just as quickly drop you on your ass, miss." He smiled a bit and looked over at Hawk. "You be okay until we get the cab?" He wanted to talk to Rose for a moment...specially since he hated things to get between him and his friends.

Rose smirked and flashed him a grin, "Now that wouldn't be very nice, now would it, mister?"

Hawkeye shrugged, "Guess so," she had stayed quiet through their conversation, barely listening to what they were saying. Half because she was a tad more focused on the throbbing pain in her chest, and half because she kept mentally kicking herself for being so stupid. The big things people did never got to her, it was always the small things that tended to stick in her mind and bother her to no end.

Blink gave her a half smile. "Don't die on my while I'm gone, Hawk." He was only half teasing, though, and that really hit home. "Come on, Rose." He gently led her downstairs.

Rose nodded at Blink, slightly leaning on him as they walked to the door, in order to keep her balance. She smiled, turning around toward Hawkeye, "Need anythin' before we leave?"

Hawkeye shook her head, heading over to the window ledge and taking a seat on the sill. She looked over to Rose and Blink, "Nah, not unless you've got a miracle hidden up your sleeves," she turned her attention to the window, "But I doubt you do."
