Reading her messages Spade said, "His names Devil. He tends to get me into a little too much trouble for my liking. What kind of dog do you have?" Lightning flashed then outlining everyone's faces. Closing her eyes against the light she sighed. Opening her eyes at the officers outburst she looked up at him wide eyed. Oh great.

Jack looked at Office Clarence, "WEll, Officer, this is my burrough...so I think I can be in here if its raining. The real question is what are you doing here?" He lit a cigarette, taking a drag. "I don't see no criminals. Don't you have something better to be going after?"

"I wonder if you do realize that it's raining out there, and this may be your burrough, newsboy, but it isn't your building." He hated cocky kids. And now the building was full of them. He was hoping the rain let up soon because he really didn't want to be here.

Officer?[/b] She thought, looking at the older man and sighing.
Scottish terrier... he's kind of... strange. Zero grinned in spite of herself as the rumble of thunder was soon followed by another flash of lightning.
She loved storms... well, not being out in them, but watching them was always fun.

Obviously the one girl couldn't talk, or wouldn't. The lightning outside was getting worse. Great, he thought, he was gonna be stuck here with a bunch of newsies. He started down the steps towards Red.

Spade shifted her head quickly towards who she figured by his statement was Jack Kelly. Well, its defiantly getting crowded in here. Her eyebrow raised at the girls statement, but didn't make a comment. Watching Officer Carter stand up she considered tripping him, but decided that she would rather not risk upsetting him. "Well, aren't we in a wonderful mood to all be in the same building getting along pleasantly," she stated sarcastically. "By the way I'm Spade." She decided that if she gave her name she might find out who everyone else was.

Zero
She looked around the group and smirked. Boy, this was a cheerful group to be in.
Lightning flashed again and she walked towards the door and stuck her head out in time to see another flash.

Red looked up noticing Carter. Smirking wryly, he shook his head. "Cant get rid o' ya, can i, Carter?" He teased, running a hand through his wet hair. "What're you doin out heah this late?"
He looked around at everyone and raised an eyebrow. "Right ol' party. Heya Jack." His arms went around his shivering form as he leaned against the door frame. It sure was cold when you were soaked to the bone.

Jumping a little when the lightning hit, she tried to calm herself. Calm down Spade.
Looking around at all the wet people in the room she said, "It seems everyone is wet doesn't it. We aren't very smart are we." She watched the boy that the officer knew continue to shiver. Shaking her head she stood up and went to search for some kind of clothing for the three kids to change into.

As Zero pulled her head back inside, she reached into her bag for her chalk and chalkboard.
The chalk was missing.
This resulted in her walking around the room for a bit...
she still couldn't find it.
Her only option now was one she really didn't want to use, but then again, how else was she supposed to find it?
"Has anyone seen my chalk?"

Jack looked over at Zero, a bit bemused. "You don't really need the chalk if you can open your mouth now, do ya?" He wasn't trying to be a smart*ss or be mean--but if she could talk, she might as well do just that.
The chalk was sitting in the palm of his hand, behind his back.

"Just because I can talk, doesn't mean I want to. So gimme my chalk back." She replied bitterly, her voice hoarse from the previous lack of use.

So, the one who didn' t talk, actually could. When he finally got up to Red, he realised that the boy was soaked. "Red, it's more like I can't get rid of you! You look a bit cold there." he said with a slight grin. He noticed that Spade had gotten up and went into another room, he was watching everyone, unsure of who he could trust.

Jack sighed and handed the chalk back. "...but by having the ability to talk and not doing so--especially now that we know you can....that's just rude. And incosiderate to the rest of us. Seriously."
Why was he the one who got these kids?

Taking the chalk back, she examined it and nodded thoughtfully.
"You sure know how to make someone feel guilty." Zero mumbled before shoving the chalk in her pocket and scowling.
